The opportunity

We continue to build our team at Opus One and are looking for a seasoned HR/People Partner to support both the strategic and tactical functions of HR from recruitment & onboarding to compensation, performance management, and annual programs. Who are you?

You are a seasoned HR professional; you've led or participated in a range of HR initiatives, programs, You have been part of a scaling company (preferably in software) and know both the excitement and also the challenges of intense growth. You have worked with a diverse range of executives, people leaders, and employee populations, as well as supported a variety of functions. You thrive in being a trusted advisor and influencer using your strategic lens to solve complex organizational growth challenges. You are a confident communicator, natural relationship-builder, and skilled influencer. You are adaptable, resourceful, independent, and thrive in fast-paced, high-volume environments. You are comfortable using data and analytics tools to provide insights and shape programs. Most importantly: you are fun to work with, you want to collaborate with a strong team and grow along with your peers.

What will our new HR/People Partner do?

  • Partner with the Director, People & Culture as well as and key stakeholders and leaders to deliver HR service, advise and guide managers and employees in line with the needs and priorities of our growing teams
  • Be an enthusiastic team player with a strong drive to create a positive work environment
  • Understand our business strategy to drive performance through the development and delivery of people solutions. Use turnover data, exit interviews, and engagement surveys to review trends. Make appropriate recommendations to the leadership team and managers based on findings.
  • Participate in the full cycle recruitment process for your client group ensuring we continue to hire amazing talent for our teams
  • Being a trusted advisor and coach to leadership and play a critical role in enhancing their leadership effectiveness within your client group
  • Be the first line of contact in People & Culture for any employee relations’ issue
  • Partnering closely with internal stakeholders on employee-related initiatives with your communication, coaching and influencing skills, and offer expertise and leadership in areas such as Career development, Performance review process, Employee Engagement surveys, Compensation management, and our ongoing DEI efforts
  • Support the Director, People & Culture implement programs and policies to support performance management, compensation, and culture initiatives
  • Partner with our finance team on processes and information flow related to payroll, benefits, and other transactions
  • Enhance and maintain our onboarding experience for new employees for all departments
  • Provide stellar service to employees with questions including benefits, time off requests, policies, records/practices and provide timely resolution of employee issues
  • Support internal communications to provide greater transparency, focus, and alignment at all levels.

Requirements

Here’s what you bring:

  • 5+ years of experience in an HRBP role ideally within the technology or high-growth sector
  • Experience with rapid and complex changing work environments
  • The ability to influence and have impact on key decisions by demonstrating deep subject matter expertise
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters in a professional and confidential way
  • Must have a customer-focused attitude, with high level of professionalism and discretion
  • Knowledge of Canadian Labor laws: policies, procedures, compliance and practices related to Workplace Health and Safety, Employment Standards Act, etc.

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of US labour law
