Job Description

Here at Modern Meadow, we are harnessing the power of design, biology, and engineering to produce biofabricated materials. Applying the latest tools of biotechnology, we are creating a new type of materials company. As we continue to grow, we are seeking to hire a People Operations Associate.

This is a key role for our people operations team that is responsible for working closely with the People Operations Manager. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to personnel file management, coordination of onboarding + offboarding activities, recruiting operations, benefit and payroll administrative support and operational support to leaders in the team. Specifically, you will:

Responsibilities:

  • Operate with a high level of confidentiality, accuracy, sensitivity, and respect for all people, HR matters, and systems
  • Enjoy helping others and demonstrate patience and understanding with all people. Ability to build strong relationships with all employees and act as an employee resource with respect to payroll, taxes, benefits, and People policies and practices, answering questions as accurately and quickly as possible
  • Support the People Operations Manager in semi-monthly payroll administration
  • Administer employee benefits, retirement, and insurance programs, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life insurance, short- and long-term disability, worker’s compensation, parental leaves, and other leaves of absences
  • Support recruiting efforts by scheduling phone screens, interviews and travel arrangements
  • Support People Operations Manager with immigration petitions, including but not limited to H-1B visas, O-1 visa, Green cards, student visas, etc.
  • Maintain and update company employee directory, organizational chart, and welcome displays
  • Update and maintain all personnel and company files
  • Day-to-day maintenance of HRIS system (Ultimate Software)
  • Coordinate internally with facilities, IT, and business units to prepare for new hires and interns
  • Support the onboarding of new hires and their acclimation to Modern Meadow
  • Support the offboarding function for departing employees
  • Support People projects such as open enrollment, performance reviews, employee engagement surveys
  • Maintain a strong interest and understanding of employment best practices for biotechnology, manufacturing, payroll, and compliance
  • Assist with budget and expense reporting for the People Operations team

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Organizational Psychology preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience in HR/People related work, internship experience included
  • High level of detail-orientation and organizational skills
  • High level of discretion to handle sensitive and personal information
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and handle numerous assignments simultaneously
  • Tech savvy and proficient in Microsoft Office, HRIS platforms, ATS, E-Verify and payroll systems

Other Skills (nice to have but not required):

  • MA in Human Resources Management
  • Prior experience using Ultimate Software or Greenhouse
  • Student Member of SHRM or other HR organization a plus
