OVO Metering is at the heart of bringing Britain’s energy system into the 21st Century. Field Operations is an integral part in creating a smart energy system which will mean that our energy networks are run in a completely new way.

 

What will I be doing?

You’ll be working in the Quality Assurance and Change Delivery team looking at innovations and system enhancements for the Field Operations business, delivering excellent customer outcomes every day. This role includes all internal tooling, third party systems and interfaces as well as with other systems and products within the wider Ovo retail teams (inc. subsidiary companies within the Group). You will be the voice of the customer, ensuring changes meet quality standards and is considerate to any business or process areas.


Key Responsibilities

  • Reviewing user stories and solution designs to ensure they are testable and verifiable (acceptance criteria are present for example) authoring test cases and planning test runs to ensure coverage is sufficient to prove the quality of the user story
  • Executing test runs and managing the bug process for the squad to ensure timely and quality deliverables
  • Creating test reports to provide management with information to help them make decisions on releases
  • Assisting with release planning to ensure a smooth delivery, ensuring that good levels of post-release checks are in place and that it’s been made “safe to fail” where possible
  • Ensuring that any known issues are communicated clearly to the support teams when releasing new features / projects to ensure a smoother release process
  • Helping create comprehensive documentation that can be used by all members of the QA Team to assist with testing activities

Essential skills and experience:


The ideal candidate is customer obsessed, highly organized, works effectively with internal and external stakeholders and has the ability to shift gears at a moment's notice. They enjoy the challenges of developing and improving processes in a dynamic organisation. They have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, superior attention to detail, and the ability to prioritise their own schedule within a dynamic environment is imperative.

  • Ability to work to a deadline and prioritise your own work
  • An understanding of some or all of the following business processes, meter appointment booking, planning/dispatch/scheduling, jeopardy planning, SMETS 1 & 2 commissioning
  • Good communication skills with the ability to articulate complicated investigations into clear and concise information

Ideally you will have:

  • A good understanding of Agile principles and how software is delivered
  • A solid experience with IT and our systems (field systems experience is important)
  • Highly self motivated who is keen to achieve targets and is proactive in improving their own performance
  • Used to working as part of a team and is willing to be pragmatic to achieve team targets
  • Able to quickly change focus but not lose sight of what needs to be done
  • Take initiative when confronted with new challenges
