This Vehicle Compliance role is highly-cross functional working closely with Vehicle Engineering, Program Management, Government Partnerships, and others.  You will have an instrumental role in developing/certifying new Bird vehicles for markets around the world, and represent Bird/influence emerging vehicle standards along the way. 

Responsibilities 

  • Collaborate with Vehicle Engineering team to develop global vehicle compliance requirements for new vehicle platforms, managing multiple vehicle programs in parallel
  • Travel to test labs as needed to support compliance activities for certification of new and existing vehicle platforms
  • Represent Vehicle Engineering team in supporting new market entry as it pertains to vehicle compliance, collaborating with Government Partnerships, Business Operations, and other teams
  • Respond and assist in field hardware compliance issues as needed
  • Represent Bird on emerging vehicle safety standards bodies, influence standards development, and maintain professional knowledge as it relates to micromobility standards

Requirements

  • B.S. in Engineering with 5+ years of professional experience
  • Knowledge of systems engineering best practices and requirements development
  • Familiarity with product safety standards applicable to micromobility products (CE, UL, etc.)
  • Safety and compliance experience in automotive and/or consumer products

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working at or with 3rd party test labs in technical areas relevant to micromobility products (wireless, EMC, battery safety, etc.)
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time, fluent in multiple languages
