HR Generalist

Terraformation is seeking an HR Generalist. You will play an essential role in supporting Terraformation employees worldwide. You will be a culture carrier, helping to onboard employees when they join Terraformation. You will maintain benefits, systems, and processes that are critical to providing a great employee experience. You will help employees navigate our people programs and will work closely with partners in Finance and Legal.
Terraformation is growing quickly, so to be successful in this role you must be comfortable  navigating change, and excited to constantly improve and scale our processes. Some days the highest priorities will be smaller administrative tasks, and others they will be driving company-wide initiatives around the world. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented and able to prioritize across many projects. You should possess keen intellect, positive energy, flexibility, high-bandwidth and be able to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth work environment.
This position is full-time with benefits. Location: Kailua-Kona, Hawaiʻi.

Responsibilities

• Provide a best in class employee experience for everyone at Terraformation
• Support employee onboarding (send out welcome emails, coordinate orientation, and set up employee systems) and offboarding
• Drive process improvements, leverage automation and eliminate manual work 
• Support reporting, dashboards, and metrics to enable data driven decision-making
• Develop and maintain documentation for manager and employee self-service
• Update and manage our HR systems with a focus on data integrity
• Help all of our employees with their HR related questions
• Provide real-time support and office coordination in Hawai’i
• Responsible for employee celebrations and company events
• Answer our company phone and process mail
• Submit data for payroll including any updates for new employees, compensation, benefits changes, etc.
• Point of contact for unemployment claims and employment verifications
• Participate in cross-functional team projects and company initiatives 
• Support compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws

Minimum Qualifications

• 3+ years of HR work experience, preferably in a generalist position
• Familiarity with multiple HR areas including HRIS, Payroll, Benefits and Compliance
• A positive attitude and passion to learn. This role is a high touch and high impact role with lots of opportunities to be a cultural ambassador and foster our company values

• Expert organizational skills and an ability to prioritize effectively - you can easily handle multiple tasks at the same time

• Sound judgment, dynamic problem-solving skills and an analytical mindset
• Ability to work with confidential and sensitive information
• Passion for Terraformation’s mission and highly motivated to help solve the climate crisis

Ideal Qualifications

• Prior experience working at a startup or with a quickly scaling team
• Experience with Google Workspace, Slack, and Gusto 
• Knowledge of employment laws within the US, specifically Hawaii and California
• Experience with distributed and international teams working across multiple time zones
• Comfort in analyzing data and metrics
• Deep respect for and appreciation of the spirit of aloha ʻāina (love of the land)
