About the Role: 
The Quality Control Manager is responsible for supporting the FSQA Department to ensure products and processes align with company and customers' specifications or standards to improve revenue for the company. The Quality Control Manager ensures that food-packing conditions are such that products are assembled in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards. Also, to ensure accurate implementation and maintenance of all food safety and sanitation programs. This is a hands-on position. You will be expected to assist the techs with physical checks when needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for providing a safe working environment for Quality Control Department employees across several warehouses including training, instructions, and supervision
  • Demonstrates a collaborative relationship with other department managers so that overall plant goals can be achieved (yields, waste, safety, cost, service, etc.)
  • Ensure that supplied products meet the company’s specifications and guidelines
  • Manages and audits warehouses’ practices and develops corrective actions for adequacy in the implementation and compliance of the quality control program
  • Assists in resolving customer-related issues/complaints
  • Functions as team leader when the warehouse conducts mock recalls and assesses management preparedness for a product recall
  • Review specifications (ingredients, sorting, packing, and review of finished products) for accuracy and resolve issues to assure capability to meet quality control requirements
  • Participates in the food safety meetings and audits to support/enforce food safety guidelines
  • Assists in designing and carrying out process experiments with the Food Safety and Quality Assurance Department
  • Assists with customer product quality and handling concerns
  • Maintain accurate records for the department’s activities
  • Reports department activities, tests, and other pertinent information as required
  • Support warehouses’ compliance to the corporate quality, policy, and manual procedures
  • Responsible for conducting monthly safety and quality audits as required and keeping adequate documented records
  • Accountable for ensuring that all safety policies and regulations are enforced, by issuing disciplinary actions

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor/ Masters Degree in Food Science/Technology or related field preferred
  • 5 years of Quality Control experience in a food manufacturing environment required
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a managerial capacity in a manufacturing environment required
  • Experience with regulatory inspectors: USDA, OSHA, BRC, NSF and, Health Department (City & County Inspectors)
  • Bilingual in both English & Spanish- preferred

Details of Position:

  • Full-time/ Exempt position reporting to the Director of Food Safety and Quality Assurance

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk, bend, squat, climb, reach, and kneel
  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds
  • Sedentary work; involves sitting most of the time
  • Occasional movement around the office may be necessary
  • Regular work with computers, including keyboards, mouses, and screens
  • Able to work in cold temperatures in a refrigerated environment
  • Exposure to all types of weather conditions
  • Frequent driving may be necessary
  • Domestic travel as necessary

How we are protecting employees from COVID-19
At Imperfect Foods, employee health and safety is our top priority. We have implemented processes and precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our facilities. We provide gloves, masks, and hand sanitizer to all essential employees who must report to work. Before entering our warehouse, employees have their temperatures checked. In addition, we take great care to ensure frequently touched surfaces are sanitized throughout the day and all warehouses are fully sanitized weekly.
We have also implemented an Emergency Sick Leave policy providing full-time and part-time employees 2 additional weeks of paid time off and up to 26 weeks paid leave if they have a confirmed case of COVID-19.
