 SUMMARY

Nexamp is seeking an Environmental Justice Outreach Intern, starting immediately, to support Community Solar Sales and Event Marketing. This internship is focused on educating local residents in the greater Champaign-Urbana IL community and surrounding areas about the opportunity to subscribe to Nexamp’s local community solar farms.

As part of Illinois’ Solar For All program, Nexamp has two solar farms specifically reserved for low and moderate income residents who cannot install solar panels on their roof but can subscribe to a share of the solar farm and save money on their electricity bills. This is a 3-4-month internship requiring 10-15 hours per week. The intern will work remotely and independently, but with training from a dedicated, highly-experienced sales team. The internship is ideal for an independent, detail-oriented, organized, and self-motivated individual with an interest in social justice or environmental justice, and customer service or marketing. Although an interest in renewable energy is helpful, experience in this field is not a requirement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Carry out sales presentations and proposals, attend outreach at fairs or other tabling events (average 1-2 per week).
• Prepare materials for all events.
• Provide additional support to Nexamp’s Community Solar team, as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate must be enthusiastic, self-motivated, hands-on, results-oriented, and a team player.  Key qualifications are as follows:

• Exceptional communication and organization skills.
• Prior experience in teaching or public speaking.
• Prior experience with community organizing is a plus.
• Familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM platform is preferred but not required.
• Candidate has a valid driver’s license and their own mode of transportation.
