About the role:

The Data Processing team is responsible for building the platform to empower large-scale computation on top of petabytes of AV data coming from the car, simulated tests, or real-time services, with a focus on cost/performance efficiency. Such computation can include but is not limited to feature dataset generation, analytics, road data enrichment, as well as model inference. In addition, we also track the lineage among multiple artifacts (data, model, metrics) to better understand the impact of changes deployed in our AV stage.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Design, implement, and test backend systems to support growing data processing demands from AV stack development, with a focus on metrics and telemetry measurement.
  • Work closely with machine learning engineers and AV engineers to guide them on building efficient development processes.
  • Build highly scalable and performant platforms for metrics development and management across all levels.
  • Collaborate with partners and proactively lead cross-team discussions.
  • Optimally participate/lead in team planning, code reviews, KPIs reviews, and design discussions leading to continuous improvements in these areas.

What you must have:

  • 5+ years working with big data
  • Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases
  • Experience with Kafka, Hadoop, Spark, or other data processing tools
  • BS, MS or Ph.D. in CS, or equivalent real-world experience
  • Passionate about self-driving technology and its potential impact on the world
  • Attention to detail and a passion for correctness
  • Have a track record of efficiently solving complex problems

Bonus Points:

  • Experience programming with Python, Scala, Java, Go, or C++
  • Experience working with Docker development and Kubernetes deployment workflows
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform or Azure
  • Experience with machine learning application development
