Position Summary
Activate seeks a Partnerships, Outreach, and Recruitment Intern to help our team execute the Cohort 2022 strategic recruitment plan. This position will play a key role in ensuring we reach the greatest pool of potential applicants while also growing awareness about our fellowship and impact among a wide range of potential allies, stakeholders, and funders.
The Partnerships, Outreach & Recruitment Intern will work directly with the Partnership Manager to execute the strategic plan to attract, inform, and engage potential fellows.
Primary Responsibilities
Develop a regionally-focused higher education engagement strategy to systematically engage key contacts across academic institutions and disseminate information about the Activate Fellowship to potential applicants.
Work with the Partnerships Manager to improve and execute the broader Activate Cohort 2022 recruitment strategy, including outreach to key contacts in specific topic areas such as buildings, carbon removal, defense, climate & more.
Support efforts to increase the diversity of the fellow applicant pool, including reaching and recruiting underrepresented applicants.
Drive outreach to policy, business, and technology experts working in science innovation.
Maintain and grow a database of key contacts from innovation hubs, academia, industry, and more.
Collaborate with recruitment and communication teams to craft and hone recruitment messaging and experiment with/evaluate messaging effectiveness.
Work closely with the fellowship, partnerships, and communications teams to execute recruitment strategy and timeline.

Is a keen marketer and skilled communicator
Is an effective at conducting outreach via phone and email, and isn’t afraid to jump on the phone with anyone
Has top-notch organizational skills and is highly detail-oriented
Can multitask and manage several complex projects at once
Is a savvy investigator able to track down hard-to-find information
Can work remotely from a U.S.-based time zone
Is a team player able to accomplish tasks independently
Has a strong understanding of the U.S. academic system, particularly physical and biological science research, graduate, and Ph.D. programs
Is interested in innovation, climate change, clean energy, manufacturing or advanced electronics sectors (or has a willingness to learn)
Understands that innovation starts with people, not ideas
Has knowledge of U.S. academic and entrepreneurial ecosystems
About The Role
The position is full-time, paid, and remote (US-based). The preferred start date is mid June, with internship duration lasting 2-4 months. This position will report to the Partnership Manager.
