Job Description

Location: Commutable distance to Bristol or London

The OVO Group’s purpose is to drive progress towards net zero carbon living. To reach Plan Zero, we need everyone to come together - not just as customers buying energy, but as members with a common goal. As part of this ambitious plan, our goal is to become the ‘Leading Employer in the UK’ by 2030. If you think you could be the talent we’re looking for, then come and join the adventure!

More about OVO

We launched in 2009 with a mission to change energy for the better. Since then, we’ve welcomed over a million members, planted a million trees, and set our sights on helping save the planet.

As a Group, we’re working to become a net zero carbon business by 2030, while helping our OVO Energy members halve their carbon footprints at the same time.

Green energy and technology are great tools to fight the climate crisis with. But it’s people power that will rewrite history.

So we’re building a zero carbon team inside and out. Of people who share our values, feel inspired by our mission, and want to make change happen. When you work for OVO, it’s not just a job. It’s the work of a lifetime. And we want the sharpest minds to help.

Up for the challenge?

Where in the world of OVO will I be working?

The Operating teams in OVO are the heart and soul of our Plan Zero mission. From contact centre agents to field force engineers, our teams handle millions of customer calls a year, and are on track to install hundreds of thousands of new smart meters in 2021.

The team is also responsible for the underlying technical and data capabilities that power our data led business. We are undergoing a deep transformation to redefine what personalised, digitally led, and data informed service looks like for our 5m customers.

The Strategy and Transformation team supports the CEO and COO on some of the most critical questions in our business, from defining our new operating model to enabling the transformation of a 6,000 strong workforce.

What will I be doing?

Working within the team, and often directly with the CEO, COO or Director of the business, your work will involve a hybrid of operational, strategic and analytical tasks.

We are tasked with ensuring day to day operations run smoothly, with running the core strategic initiatives to allow our business to continue it’s rapid growth and to transform a large business at scale and pace, and to support with our board level objectives.

The role is varied and versatile. You will gain exposure across our business, and be closely involved across our business, operating, product and tech teams. And given the small team, and proximity to our most senior leadership you will have a high degree of freedom to embed yourself and drive meaningful impact.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Own a portfolio of key strategic and operational projects, typically supporting the COO, a business unit lead, or the CEO
  • Form strong stakeholder relationships across the business
  • Drive an analytical and problem solving approach, and ensure strong documentation and reporting typically for senior leadership or board level consumption
  • Ensure rapid delivery execution of our strategic portfolio; unblock risks and issues, and providing progress where needed
  • Mentorship within the team, and of high potential colleagues in the business

Is this the job for me?

Ideally you will have:

  • Previous experience at a top tier strategy consulting firm or in a high paced environment
  • Expert problem solving skills, the ability to focus on the highest impact areas, and the ability to succinctly communicate across the business
  • Rigorous planning, execution and organisational skills, with a high attention to detail
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves and get involved across the business
  • Comfortable working in an agile, rapidly changing, but collegiate environment

From us you’ll get*

  • An annual discretionary bonus
  • 4% of your salary to spend on flexible lifestyle benefits
  • 5% matched employer contribution to your pension
  • 25 days holiday + 1 for your birthday
  • And many more...

(*) Please note that certain benefits kick-in once you have passed probation which can be up to 6 months after your start date.
