We’re looking for…

A Developer to help us build user-friendly, high-quality and beautiful application interfaces and reports. You would both be building out new functionality and improving existing products. You would also help improve the quality of our front end code and possibly help us migrate from GWT to a more popular front end framework.

Responsibilities

• Building, maintaining and improving web application interfaces
• Designing interfaces for optimal user experiences
• Improving the quality and maintainability of our front end code
• Writing and improving our front end test suite
• Establishing guidelines for writing good front end code
• Reviewing front end code written by teammates

Requirements

• Significant Experience designing and building web application front ends
• Experience as or clear potential to be a leader in front end development
• Expert in: 
  • CSS and LESS
  • Writing front end tests (e.g. using Cypress and/or Selenium)
  • Complex editor/view UIs with dynamic logic and validation.
• Proficient in:
  • Java
  • Modern, popular JavaScript frameworks
• Nice to have: Experience in GWT, including the Editor Framework
• Collaborative attitude and a sense of humor

Compensation

Combination of Salary and Stock Options commensurate with skills and experience.

About Us

Ekotrope is a customer-centric software company that believes our success is predicated on our customers’ success. We run the most widely used Home Energy Rating Software which is used on about 1 in 4 of new homes built in the US each year.  Our clients for this product are home energy raters who work with home builders to help design more energy efficient homes and then inspect and certify those homes.  We also help utilities run their energy efficiency programs more effectively.  To date, most of our work has been focused on low-rise single and multi-family homes but we are now expanding to provide solutions for existing homes and larger multi-family buildings.

Our software development team consists of 11 full time engineers.  We employ a modified Scrum framework.  We have weekly team planning, demo, and retrospective meetings and daily Scrums.  We have short development cycles and a tight customer feedback loop.  We promote transparency, respect, self-improvement, and fulfillment.
