Job Description

Description

Climate Robotics is a venture-backed startup building heavy agricultural equipment to improve soils and fight climate change. We are developing tow-behind agricultural equipment to produce biochar, a powerful soil amendment that helps to sequester atmospheric carbon. We are seeking talented engineers to join our team and help make a dent in the climate crisis. Your work will directly impact our food system and global climate.

Successful candidates will lead a team to design and build the hardware, software, and infrastructure to convert agricultural waste into biochar at scale. You will design, prototype, build and manufacture the next generation of agricultural equipment. You will help us take our innovations at the small scale to large-scale deployment on farms. You will develop, prototype and execute experiments to evaluate and test new ideas and setups. You posses a profound scientific curiosity, strong ability to navigate technical uncertainty, and the ability to break a complex engineering task into measurable subtasks. As we scale, you will help us design and build the infrastructure necessary to operate at the commercial agriculture scale necessary to effect global change. Your work will directly impact our food system and global climate.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and test our novel continuous biochar production system. This team will include design of the mechanical systems, the electrical system, and all of the control electronics and software to tie it together.
  • Lead architecture and strategic direction for some or many subsystems
  • Develop and run experiments to prove out concepts and performance numbers for key subsystems.
  • Develop the product and engineering roadmap to scaled deployment
  • Guide, mentor, and serve as a tech lead for the engineering team

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Hardware Engineering discipline (such as Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Civil, or Geo), Applied Science (Geology, Chemistry, Physics, or related field or equivalent practical experience).
  • >5 years of demonstrated work experience in an applied engineering field with expertise in handling mechanical and control systems from the ground up
  • Hands-on prototyping experience
  • Experience with complex systems engineering challenges
  • Demonstrated proficiency and fluency in Solidworks

Bonus Points

  • Proven track record taking hardware products from concept to industrial scale
  • Field experience in agriculture
  • Experience in agricultural machinery or other heavy equipment design and manufacture (oil and gas, construction, automotive etc)

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and equity in the company
  • Health benefits (medical, dental, and vision)
  • Unlimited vacation & time-off policy
  • Relocation assistance available for qualified candidates
