<a href="https://carboncollective.co">Carbon Collective</a> is the first online investment platform 100% focused on climate change. We build portfolios that make climate-focused investing = smart investing, so we can drive as much impact as possible from your IRA, 401(k), and general investment accounts. Backed by top-tier pre-seed and climate VC’s, our goal is to unify our votes and voices to collectively pressure the world’s major brands to transition to climate positive companies, faster. We are an early stage startup that operates 100% remotely. You would be one of our first hires. 

This Role: 
We are going to be generating a lot of original content, particularly around the 3rd bullet point above. There are some questions that require a good amount of research. For example: 
<ul><li>If the global economy is to produce the number of solar panels we’re projected to need to remain under 1.5ºC of warming by 2030, are today’s solar panel manufacturers underpriced on the stock market?</li>
<li>How much money could Coca-Cola save by switching to 100% renewable energy? What would the CO2 impact be?</li>
<li>How much does it cost for a company to offset its current emissions vs. what could it cost after climate-legislation requires it? </li>
</ul>
The answers to these questions are not obvious and will require you to draw upon a range of trusted sources/studies.  


About You: 
You are deeply curious. You feel comfortable and excited when venturing into the unknown of a question. You are skeptical of bold claims and like to see the data backing it up. You are very comfortable in a spreadsheet and can learn/adapt quickly.  You either are in college, just finishing, and/or looking to get a foothold in climate tech. To be clear, college experience is nice, but by no means required. We believe there are many people with the above qualities that never went to college. 
Ideally you have experience in at least one of the following categories: 
<ul><li>Environmental science. You have crunched environmental impact numbers before</li>
<li>Finance. You’ve evaluated publicly traded companies before. You know your way around a 10-K. </li>
<li>Climate. Formally or informally you’ve studied what it will take for us to decarbonize our planet. Electrify Everything, Drawdown, 1.5ºC of warming all have meaning to you. </li>
</ul>

Compensation: 
<ul><li>Compensation: $20 - 25/hour, depending upon experience. Paid at 40 hours/week.</li>
<li>Length: 3 months.  </li>
<li>Location: Anywhere within 3 hours of the PST time zone with very good internet. </li>
</ul>Can this lead to a full time, salaried role? Yes. We’ve had interns prove themselves indispensable in the past and have hired them.

In addition to the above qualities, here’s the other factors we’ll be evaluating in our hiring process: 
<ul><li>How well do you communicate, both written and verbally? </li>
<li>How have you performed on previous teams (professional or student)? How well have you been able to lead? How well have you been able to follow?</li>
<li>How independently can you operate? How much supervision and support works best for you? </li>
<li>How well have you been able to juggle a bunch of tasks without dropping major ones? Did you know when to ask for help when you needed it? </li>
</ul>
