Job Purpose/Mission 

The Head of Operations will report directly to the Managing Director of EEA Mozambique and will be responsible for the entire operations department. The operations department is currently over 40 people strong and is comprised of two main teams: a warehouse team responsible for quality assurance, technical refurbishment, and getting products to market; and the service center team responsible for customer service across 6 provinces and over 25 locations across the country. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of a broad based and expanding department that plans on operating over 60 sales locations across the country and over 80 employees in the next 2 years.  

Responsibilities 

Ordering, Inventory Turnover Management & Customs 

  • Work with Fenix global partners to facilitate the importation of Fenix Power Systems and related accessories into Mozambique 
  • Monitor sales trends and adjust ordering and forecasting based on those trends to manage cash spend 
  • Warehousing & Quality Control 
  • Manage assembly facility in Mozambique, to support the assembly of raw materials into finished goods available for distribution, and perform incoming Quality Assurance on imports 
  • Ensure compliance with global QC requirements for in country items and liaison with global QC team on any QC issues that arise 

Logistics 

  • Critically assess in-county logistics options, routes, and costs to optimize supply chain efficiency of Fenix Power Systems, accessories, and service items 
  • Plan and map out shipping routes and timelines to ensure sufficient stock at last mile and ensure no stock outs 
  • Work with shipping partners and third party logistics providers to ensure products make their way to market safely and without damages 

Service Center  

  • Own the sourcing, constructing, and roll out of service centers across the country 
  • Hire and manage a team of 30+ Service Center Associates and Team Leads 
  • Conduct and manage stock audits to ensure last-mile distribution is a sustained competitive advantage for Fenix

Knowledge and skills 

Experience: 

  • Minimum 10 years of people management and operations experience 
  • Experience scaling and managing operations in Mozambique or other Sub-Saharan African market 
  • Experience managing a department budget nice to have 
  • Ability to work and push forward project autonomously 

Qualifications: 

  • University diploma / Bachelor's degree

Language(s): 

  • English mandatory 
  • Portuguese mandatory 

Technology: 

  • Proficient in using Excel and Powerpoint 
  • Proficient in using Tableau 
  • Additional data experience is a nice to have
