WHO YOU ARE

You’re an engineering leader with the people and technical skills to bring the next generation of lithium-ion batteries to market. As a manager on the Battery Engineering team, you’ll lead and grow a team commercializing Sila’s materials through integration and qualification with cell manufacturing partners. You’ll guide collaboration with technical and business teams at Sila as well as external partners and customers and help the team set and reach ambitious, realistic goals by building streamlined systems, setting clear responsibilities, empowering team members, and owning a large part of our team’s growth and Sila’s success.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Coach and support engineers by providing consistent feedback, guidance through challenges, and development opportunities to encourage technical and professional growth
  • Build competency in our technology, particularly around integration into cell manufacturing, and work with subject matter experts to construct, communicate, and direct technical goals and plans
  • Recruit, interview, hire, and onboard extraordinary new Silazens to expand our team’s bandwidth, capabilities, and diversity; the initial team will be 3-4 engineers with the expectation of rapid growth
  • Establish or improve upon systems for efficient and productive discussion of ideas, decision making, and information sharing
  • Facilitate collaboration between groups (such as Product & Commercialization and Manufacturing) at Sila and with external partners through direct communication, information review, and coaching
  • Invest in our company values and vision and champion them as we grow

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Passion for coaching and guiding coworkers through trust, openness, and dedication
  • Exceptional leadership and communication abilities
  • Ability to quickly master new fields and drive improvement
  • Demonstrated advanced engineering and project management skills
  • Understanding of materials and/or energy storage; experience with lithium-ion batteries is a plus
  • At least a B.S. in engineering or physical science and 8 years of industry experience (fewer for candidates with an advanced degree)
  • Several years of experience directly managing engineers or scientists in industry
