The company is backed by a diverse set of committed investors and we have raised over $100M to date.As the Midwest Policy Director you will lead Form Energy’s regional market development initiatives in U.S. Midwestern states in coordination with Form Energy’s business development and product teams. In this role you will oversee and lead Form Energy’s work to build regional relationships with regulators, utilities, government and NGO stakeholders to develop markets for Form Energy’s new multi-day energy storage asset class and to steer projects through regulatory approval. You will also craft government affairs strategy to support potential supply chain partnerships and investments in the region. You will be responsible for building and managing a regional team that includes external partners. This role will report to Form Energy’s policy executive.

What You'll Do

  • Define and execute Form Energy’s Midwestern market development strategy to expand commercial opportunities for multi-day energy storage
  • Lead efforts to secure non-dilutive funding to support potential investments in the Midwest
  • Shape regional legislation and regulations to ensure Form Energy’s long term commercial success in Midwestern states
  • Oversee and guide Form Energy’s participation in regional regulatory proceedings
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with high-level regional policy makers, nongovernmental organization leadership and other regional leaders
  • Build coalitions with regional advocacy organizations and key industry groups
  • Provide recommendations to senior management about regional market strategy and trends relevant to multi-day energy storage
  • Manage regional team resources, including both internal team members and external consultants
  • Collaborate with other Form Energy teams on regional market prioritization, market monitoring, thought leadership, and business strategy
  • Support company-wide public relations and communications efforts, playing a leading government affairs role in the Midwest

What You'll Bring

  • 6+ years experience in electric sector policy development or advocacy
  • BA/BS degree required; master’s or other advanced degree preferred Expertise on policy issues related to utility procurement and resource planning in the Midwest
  • Extensive relationships with government, utility and/or NGO leaders in the Midwest
  • Experience navigating electric sector policy stakeholder processes
  • Significant experience in preparing and delivering policy filings to public utility commissions, state legislatures and/or wholesale market operators
  • Demonstrated track record advocating for and securing policy changes related to utility scale renewable energy, energy storage, or resource procurement
  • Experience navigating ambiguity and thriving in an entrepreneurial and fast-paced environment
  • Resourcefulness and a track record of being a successful team player capable of collaborating with multiple cross-functional teams
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Experience working on political and legislative campaigns is a plus
