Chemistry Lab Technician/Research Associate - Carbon Capture

Blue Planet Systems Corporation (Blue Planet) is a cleantech start-up company located in Los Gatos, California, that is developing technology, products and services related to economically sustainable carbon capture and mineralization, whereby carbon dioxide (CO2) gas from point source emitters is permanently sequestered as solid carbonate in building materials for beneficial reuse, specifically as aggregate for concrete.

Blue Planet is seeking a Lab Technician - Wet/Analytical Chemistry to assist R&D & Engineering staff and support development projects at its headquarters in Los Gatos, specifically:

• Development and testing of novel CO2 containing construction materials
• Operation and optimization of laboratory scale unit processes to support scale-up and future technological advancements
• Maintaining a safe, organized, and effective working environment to maximize productivity

As a Lab Technician - Wet/Analytical Chemistry you will:

• Carry out routine lab procedures such as weighing, pipetting and recording data on analytical equipment
• Operate, calibrate and maintain analytical instruments including: FTIR Spectrometer, Ion Chromatography System, Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), XRD, Solar Reflectometer, Auto-Titrator, UV-Vis Spectrometer, Particle Size Analyzer
• Keep well-ordered record of data, analyze data, and communicate results to team members

The ideal candidate will possess:

• A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Geochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or related science field with extensive lab experience
• Experience operating, calibrating & maintaining analytical instruments
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and Google Suite
• Strong written and verbal communication skills 
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and show flexibility with changes
• Attention to detail
• Ability to work independently, make informed decisions, and troubleshoot issues when necessary
