Role title:  Business Analyst Manager 

Location: Flexible

You’ll be working as part of the Programmes and Change Team within OVO Retail and will be at the heart of enabling the transformation to a digital at scale, customer centric business with intelligent operations powered by unified, modern technology. You’ll champion customer excellence and be empowered to make a difference on a global scale through enabling our Plan Zero objectives.

You’ll be part of our Business Analyst community at OVO working closely with energy sector subject matter experts, developing a deep understanding of the UK energy market and regulations. We are constantly looking to improve our processes and you’ll become a key member of the team, identifying opportunities for change and improvement.

What will I be doing?


You will partner closely with subject matter experts, Project Managers and Product Managers to deliver high quality outcomes for our members, and play an active part in shaping business and technology change.


Reporting into the Business Analysis Discipline Lead, you will be part of the Programmes and Change People Leadership Team and manage a team of c. 3-4 Business Analysts and use coaching and mentoring to support their career development.


You will work on programmes across our function and bring deep business analysis expertise and team leadership skills to bear, enabling us to successfully simplify and unify our Retail estate.


You will be able to demonstrate a broad understanding of leading business analysis across complex customer transformation and business integration programmes. You’ll understand the importance of customer experience and business stability, and be able to build high performing Business Analyst teams to deliver consistent results in a fast paced and dynamic environment.  



Key responsibilities include:

  • Line management of for 3-4 Business Analysts within the Discipline 
  • Managing stakeholders from entry-level to Retail Leadership Team and ensuring the building of trusting relationships

  • Ensuring customer value preservation and operational stability while delivering change,  balancing risk and reward to maintain momentum

  • Bringing together complex groups of stakeholders to define the business outcomes, requirements and benefits that underpin the reason for change

  • Developing business cases for large scale projects or programmes that clearly articulate the case for change, and accurately capture the costs and benefits of projects.

  • Creating artefacts that support timely decision making

  • Communicating complex or technical requirements in a simple, understandable way to stakeholders at all levels.

  • Working closely with business sponsors and their delegates to achieve acceptance of the captured user stories / requirements, to be business process design  and delivered solution

  • Supporting updates to the Retail Leadership Team on analysis or business case related decisions or recommendations determined by business analysis activities, plans and associated risks

  • Collaborating with Project Managers and Product Managers to coordinate the delivery of change in a complex and changing organisation

  • Working closely with Business Change colleagues to ensure change lands smoothly within the Retail business

  • Providing focus and direction for business analysis activities on your programme to ensure customer value preservation and operational stability while delivering change,  balancing risk and reward to maintain momentum

  • Through coaching and mentoring, support the development of a high performing team of Business Analysts 

  • Providing guidance on, and oversight of the quality of, business analysis work undertaken within your programme

  • Contributing to the development of business analysis techniques; supporting the Discipline to be recognised as a centre of excellence for analysis
  • Contributing to the development of a business analysis framework and supporting methodology 
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of the Business Analysis Discipline  - shaping working practises, tooling and bringing external best practise thinking into the team
  • Contributing to the development of a career progression framework and toolkit our Business Analysts

Ideally you will have:

 

  • A consistent track record of supporting large scale, complex and cross-business Transformation projects
  • A proven delivery expertise in technology, migration and transformation business analysis delivery 
  • A structured and disciplined approach - able to build networks and governance routines that foster collaborative ways of working and promote effective decision making 
  • Experience of working in a fast pace, complex and innovative businesses that have seen rapid growth and expansion including through acquisitions 
  • High energy - a proactive, passionate, high performing leader who can can deliver through others and directly 
  • The ability to meaningfully and appropriately challenge, but commit wholly once a decision is made
  • The ability to time-manage and prioritise workload
  • The tenacity to go that extra mile for your customer(s)
  • An ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal

  • Outstanding stakeholder management skills and ability to have an impact quickly
  • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to produce executive level recommendation and decision papers
  • An ability to distill complex messages for senior audiences and facilitate effective decision making with support
  • Experience in leading and developing multi-site, matrix teams
  • Experience in line management, mentoring and coaching to develop colleagues / teams
  • Energy sector knowledge (desirable)
  • Formal training and certifications in business analysis, such as BCS or equivalent (essential)
  • Formal training in lean process design, such as lean six sigma (desirable)
  • Formal training in agile delivery methodology such as certification as a scrum master or product owner (desirable)
  • Formal leadership or coaching / mentoring training or certification (desirable)
