Job Description

Location: Flexible, this role can be based from any of our UK offices - we have a choice-based working policy depending on each individual and role.

We launched in 2009 with a mission to change energy for the better. Since then, we’ve welcomed over a million members, planted a million trees, and set our sights on helping save the planet.

As a Group, we’re working to become a net zero carbon business by 2030, while helping our OVO Energy members halve their carbon footprints at the same time.

Green energy and technology are great tools to fight the climate crisis with. But it’s people power that will rewrite history.

So we’re building a zero carbon team inside and out. Of people who share our values, feel inspired by our mission, and want to make change happen. When you work for OVO, it’s not just a job. It’s the work of a lifetime. And we want the sharpest minds to help.

Up for the challenge?

Where in the world of OVO will I be working?

This role sits within the People Transformation team, as part of the wider People Function. As a People Team, we're building a place where people love to work, by creating a movement where we all belong. Connecting our world changers to solving humanity’s greatest challenge, while offering a dynamic, inclusive, empowered and value driven working environment.

The Transformation team leads on Enterprise-level change, whether it comes from Plan Zero, our people strategy, M&A or other business needs. We proactively develop and delivers change, so we become the top tier place to work in line with our Plan Zero mission.

This work isn’t done by the Transformation Team alone; we are ‘playmakers’ who engage others to form complementary teams around specific products and projects in order to deliver change for our people across the Group.

What will I be doing?

You will own and lead the delivery of enterprise-wide People change products and projects with simplicity and scalability in mind. You will be responsible for setting the right vision and thought leadership - providing a lens into the future of work and dynamic organisations, including regularly engaging outside of OVO to bring best practice thinking back.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Agreeing organisational change expectations with the team and partners across the business - understanding what’s important, and what’s urgent - ensuring we’re innately focussed on delivering value for our people
  • Ensuring effective communication of updates throughout the project
  • Constantly co-creating with the business to ensure we build valuable solutions for them
  • Developing a culture of continuous improvement and lean thinking in the People Team
  • Overseeing resource levels, deploying key resources as appropriate in consultation with the wider teams as a flex squad
  • Driving commercial efficiency and future value through effective management of the programme and effective, on-time delivery.
  • Creating and monitor tangible success metrics for the change impact
  • Ensuring I&D is fully embedded across OVO’s people experiences
  • Acting as a senior figure in the Transformation Team to help the team continuously grow, and mentor more junior team mates
  • Taking a senior and influential role in the wider People department

Is this the job for me?

You'll have extensive experience in a project management role in at least one People Team functional area (preferably more than one). You're highly organised, able to engineer workstreams that know how to deliver value, and multi-tasking doesn’t phase you.

You're an effective communicator with the confidence to engage with, and influence, across the organisation up to C level. You thrive on problem solving with a team and building positive relationships

You like to challenge the status quo to strive for progressive thinking at all times.

Ideally you will have:

  • Experience in, and a preference for, agile ways of working
  • Confidence in balancing the big picture vs the detail
  • Critical thinking, combined with key analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Whilst not vital, CIPD/Project/Change Management qualifications would be a plus!

Life at OVO is pretty fast-paced so you’ll be confident working in a dynamic high growth business. You're happy working in a constantly evolving environment and are confident proposing, justifying, initiating and implementing change.

From us you’ll get*

  • An annual discretionary bonus
  • 4% of your salary to spend on flexible lifestyle benefits
  • 5% matched employer contribution to your pension
  • 25 days holiday + 1 for your birthday
  • And many more...

(*) Please note that certain benefits kick-in once you have passed probation which can be up to 6 months after your start date.

We want the best people

At OVO, we empower our people to have choice around where and when they work - flexible working arrangements can be discussed for all of our roles. Please speak to the Talent Acquisition team for more info.

We’re keen to meet people with varied backgrounds - our view is the more inclusive we are, the better our work will be. We want to build teams which represent a variety of experiences, perspectives and skills, and we recognise talent on the basis of merit and potential.

We understand some people may not apply for jobs unless they tick every box. If you're excited about joining us and think you have much of what we're looking for, even if you're not 100% sure… we'd love to hear from you.
