Job Description

Remora is an early-stage climate tech startup backed by Chris Sacca and Y Combinator. We’re building a device that captures the carbon emissions from a semi-truck. Our founders include a former EPA scientist who pioneered mobile carbon capture during her PhD and a former diesel mechanic turned engineer who built electric semi-trucks for some of the world’s largest automotive companies.

We’re hiring the first member of our Strategy and Operations team. You’ll take on a wide range of projects and own major decisions, working closely with our CEO, Paul. You’ll play a key role in building our culture, and, in the process, you’ll help tackle the defining challenge of our time.

Climate change disproportionately impacts communities of color, so we’re looking for candidates deeply committed to reducing emissions and to racial justice. We especially encourage people of color, women, and members of other communities underrepresented in startups to apply.

You will:

  • Support Remora’s CEO

    • Write updates to investors, customers, employees, and other stakeholders.

    • Build systems that help the team stay efficient as we grow.

  • Handle key operations and special projects

    • Manage the transportation, distribution, and sales of our captured carbon dioxide.

    • Run payroll, purchase insurance and equipment, and pay rent.

    • Evaluate and executing new special projects or partnerships.

  • Help grow the Remora team

    • Run our hiring process for new team members, including designing skills tests, structuring interviews, communicating with applicants, and onboarding new hires.

It’s most important that:

  • You’re deeply committed to tackling the climate crisis

  • You have a bachelor’s degree and at least two years of work experience.

  • You’re exceptionally organized, resourceful, and hard-working.

  • You’re excited to quickly and independently learn whole new subjects from scratch.

  • You’re good at communicating clearly with diverse audiences — from engineers to policymakers to truck drivers to investors.

  • You’ve worked on a significant, long-term project (inside or outside work) where you were trying to help other people or make the world better. 


  • Location: Remote (PST, MST, CST, or EST)

  • Start date: ASAP (June or July)

  • Compensation: Everyone at Remora owns significant equity in the company, and everyone earns the exact same salary: $80,000.

  • Benefits: We offer a Health Reimbursement Arrangement (i.e. monthly allowance) to cover a healthcare plan from the ACA marketplace.
