The company is backed by a diverse set of committed investors and we have raised over $100M to date.Role Description We are looking for a hands-on individual to aid in the electrochemical performance and test efforts of Form Energy’s long duration energy storage system. As the Test Engineer on the Cathode Team, you will be integral in coordinating the electrochemical testing efforts of many stakeholders, ensuring that our experiments produce high fidelity data. You will collaborate closely with other Cathode engineers and make significant contributions to the performance and durability of our electrodes. Additionally, you will work closely with our Technical Operations and Performance & Integration teams to build out test capacity, schedule electrochemical testing, facilitate analysis of electrochemical data, maintain high-quality testing standards, and contribute to battery testing process development. The role is anticipated to be primarily hands-on, with >60% of time spent working in the lab. The ideal candidate will have practical experience testing electrochemical devices while exhibiting a scrappy, interdisciplinary problem-solving attitude.

What you'll do:

  • Coordinate with our Technical Operations team to manage resources and enable extensive high-throughput electrochemical testing for a variety of Cathode development projects
  • Coordinate with our Performance & Integration team to manage alignment on cell-to-reactor data portability across testing platforms and align team members on KPIs for our electrodes
  • Serve as a liaison to the Data Engineering team to find opportunities to enable seamless data collection and analysis
  • Design execute, and maintain both standard and non-standard electrochemical testing
  • Participate in cross-functional efforts with Technology Development teams to perform cell and test instrument troubleshooting and identify opportunities for performance improvement.

What you'll bring:

  • A safety-first mindset
  • 2+ years of experience in battery testing or electrochemical cycling
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
  • An outstanding level of attention to detail
  • Experience organizing and managing electrochemical test infrastructure
  • Familiarity with electrochemical test instruments including Maccor, Arbin, Bio-Logic, Gamry and/or VersaSTAT
  • Experience with statistical analysis and using tools such as Minitab or JMP
  • Excellent communication skills within a group of peers and the broader organization
  • Basic laboratory safety knowledge and wet chemical handling experience
