Job Description

 

WHERE IN THE WORLD OF OVO AM I WORKING AND WHAT WILL I BE DOING?

You will be a key member of the Kaluza Technology Leadership Team and will report directly to the Kaluza CTO. You will be responsible for Kaluza’s strategy and development of Kaluza’s use and application of data.

You will have full scope to define and shape the function according to the strategic priorities and opportunities. You will ensure that we implement the most effective and efficient organisation structure, processes and technologies to match our ambitious plans. You will own everything from data science products and goal setting, to A/B testing and BI.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Data Science and Analytics: Functional reporting for our data scientists and analysts within Kaluza. Both a central function and cross-functionally embedded within product teams.
  • Creating business value: seek out opportunities to embed data scientists and / or analysts to create value from the data in our products.
  • Building data products: Co-lead the build out of data products that form part of Kaluza’s SaaS offering. From energy disaggregation, to next best action and beyond.
  • Building a data culture: evolve and mature mindsets and working practices relating to data across all levels of the organisation. Drive evolutionary processes that impact all aspects of Kaluza.
  • Promote self-service data analysis: mitigate any bottlenecks in accessing data, provide effective access to enterprise information, while also balancing the free flow of data (with the necessary safeguards). Educate the business to ensure data needs are met in an effective and robust way.
  • Data literacy: understand the data landscape, ensure data is prepared in the right ways for analysis. Conduct analysis in ways that provide meaningful and informative business insights.
  • Advance data and analytics maturity: Ensuring that Kaluza is consistently using data analytics to spark innovation that differentiates our business, supports our strategic priorities and drives competitive advantage.
  • Data protection: working with cross functional teams  to guard against intrusion, corruption, and loss of data. Build strong data governance and data protection practices.
  • Improve data quality: take full ownership for ensuring that our data meets corporate standards for quality. Ensuring the data value and data risk needs are met. 
  • Promote data ethics: Ensure appropriate use of data and be a leading advocate for driving best practice on reducing bias in interpreting data, developing conclusions, and recommending or automating decisions. 
  • Drive performance: Lead Data Analytics and Data Science to deliver the solutions that fulfill the Business information needs and align with the data vision and strategy
  • Data Engineering - Co-leading with product and technology our data engineering strategy - data tooling, use of systems (e.g. Kafka, Big Query) etc. 
  • Reporting and visualisation - Leading our BI, reporting and visualisation strategy. Both internally within Kaluza but importantly ensuring also the productization and commercialisation of BI products.

WHAT DOES IT TAKE?

  • Strong experience in leading teams building innovative data science products
  • Experience influencing organisations to build a data culture
  • Expert knowledge in data reporting and visualisation
  • Obsession with data and insights
  • Expert knowledge of data structures and modeling
  • Deep understanding of enterprise data warehouses, big data, BI & analytics, content management and data management
  • Understanding of Cloud based technologies including how a modern data architecture and platform are developed and maintained
  • Understanding of domain driven design and data mesh architectures
