The R&D Team is a mixture of scientists and engineers committed to generating the best and most novel data and models across all times: historical, real-time and forecast. We also focus on making everything become a weather station (from cars to microwave links to IoT devices). The story just begins when the data hits our ingest and post-processing services. Every product that the user sees is the result of a pipeline of algorithms that needs to be run quickly and continuously. We are the team that builds the architecture behind the data and the models, to prepare the weather analyses, for the Product and Engineering team to serve to the masses.

We’re looking for a Director of Climate Data Platform Engineering who’ll help us b uild and deliver high-quality software efficiently and on schedule. To support this, manage and expand an all-star team. You’ll help us make sure we’re helping Countries, Businesses and Individuals better manage their Climate Security Challenges.

As the Director of Climate Data Platform Engineering at, You’ll

  • Lead a multi-talented team of software engineers and data scientists to deliver against our roadmap
  • Mentor and support the R&D team member’s growth
  • Drive OKRs around R&D and company goals and facilitate Data Driven technical decisions approach
  • Facilitate personal and engineering collaboration between the teams in R&D
  • Build, recruit and lead a world class team of software engineers and technical leads
  • Build and maintain a culture of execution, quality, collaboration, mentorship, and open feedback in engineering.
  • Manage competing priorities for scalability, security, and cost efficiency.
  • Define clear and appropriate processes within and across teams
  • Create a culture that rewards motivation and cooperation
  • Be a subject matter expert on market-leading data trends, technologies, tools and their compatible components for data ingestion, processing and presentation.

What you bring:

  • 5+ years of management experience - must.
  • You are an inspiring manager and mentor who excels at building teams.
  • You have experience in processing and operating on large geo-scpacial data sets. Meteorological experience is a strong bonus.
  • You are excellent at recruiting software engineers and managers. You led the growth of a software engineering team from 8 or fewer people to 20 or more people
  • You have a proven track record of successfully delivering complex data platforms
  • You have experience in creating complex geospatial pipelines and tooling.
  • You have experience with matrix orgs, cross-functional teams, and dotted-line reporting structures
  • You exhibit fluency in a programming language such as Python or Scala, and their respective standard data processing libraries. Python is preferred.
  • You have experience working with data lakes and data processing systems that can be operated across a large organization.
  • You have experience in creating and operating MLOps infrastructure .
  • You are skillful in stakeholder management to collect and prioritize requests and translate to roadmap
  • You have excellent communication skills. You demonstrate strong attention to detail and precise execution
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, Master's degree or higher is preferred
