About the role

We're looking for a data engineer to join our team as we scale up our software and data products for the maritime transport industry. We're looking for engineers who are experienced with building resilient pipelines who are also interested in taking a deep dive into weather and ocean systems. The role will focus on building and maintaining data systems for the next generation of forecasting models, supporting our existing infrastructure, and collaborating with ocean scientists and product developers on their data and infrastructure needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and improve our weather data ingestion and modeling pipelines
  • Be available on an on-call rotation
  • Help develop strong devops culture
  • Support ocean science team experiments and feature requests
  • Support production system data requirements and feature requests
  • Explore, research, and ingest new data sources
  • Set up, maintain, and train team members in the operation and use of data processing infrastructure

About you

  • 2+ years professional experience working with our tech stack (or similar): AWS, Airflow, Docker, Kubernetes, SQL, Python, and Node.js
  • Skilled at evaluating and exploring new datasets, with strong analytical skills in evaluating data and data access strategies
  • Security minded
  • Patient
  • Bonus for experience with climatological, geospatial, or meteorological datasets/data sources
  • Unfortunately we are not able to support recent boot camp graduates in this role
