Job Description

Who we are?

Creating a planet fueled by reliable, clean energy isn’t what keeps us up at night; it’s what gets us out of bed. At Opus One Solutions, our software platform GridOS® helps us pursue solutions that will change how countries access, optimize and distribute electrical energy. From microgrids that keep things running in the event of an outage, to helping electric utilities optimize their operations and allowing homeowners to feed energy into a power grid, we're powering a more sustainable future.

The opportunity

We are looking for an Enterprise Architect who will join our Research & Development team.

The Enterprise Architect will work truly cross-functional: working closely with our partners, sales and strategic growth team, project managers, product managers, professional services and the delivery team.

Who are you?

You are confident, passionate, optimistic and a team-oriented Enterprise Architect, who understands emerging energy industry trends and implications on utilities.

As an Enterprise Architect you bring products, services and support together to construct a powerful and attractive offer for Opus One’s customers. You have the ability to think strategically, have an eye for discovering patterns and reproducible services across products, a sharp focus on revenue generation, be able to dive into appropriate technical depth when required and produce the solution that would best meet the customer needs, internally and externally.

What will our new Enterprise Architect work on?

  • Extract functional and non-functional requirements from customers and work directly with the staff engineers to help solve Opus One's unique set of software development and architectural challenges and customer constraints.
  • Ensure that solutions not only meet the functional objectives but also meet operational requirements such as scalability, security, extensibility, flexibility and manageability.
  • Unify products with similar functions to provide a more robust product offering while reducing the amount of code and services being duplicated.
  • Ensure we have a configurable and secure authentication system across all our products.
  • Create a robust, consistent, secure, and managed API across all products and platforms.
  • Ensure that all developers are following secure coding best practices and provide guidance on training and enforcement to meet ISO certification standards.
  • Experience with monitoring and logging systems such as Kibana, Grafana, Splunk, Sentry, and/or Prometheus.
  • Work with QA to define test strategies for complex functionalities.
  • Ensure proper documentation of all vital information related to architectural decisions.

Requirements

Here’s what you bring:

  • The education. You hold a BS/MSc in Engineering with a focus on power systems or relevant experience.
  • The experience. You have strong electricity industry knowledge; microgrid deployment, grid management, customer centric programs, asset management or power markets experience is highly desired. You have experience designing platforms that process large amounts of data. You also demonstrate the capability to support complete sales cycles.
  • The knowledge. You are highly familiar with emerging energy industry trends and implications on utility customers in the area of DER management, microgrids, distribution planning, IT, SCADA and asset management.
  • Client management. You are experienced in interacting with internal and external clients.
  • The Excellence. You get things done on-time and within the project deadlines.
  • The teamwork. You are self-motivated collaborator that can also work as a successful independent researcher.
  • The communication. You have exceptional written and oral communication skills, can communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences and provide high-level summaries of the solution to the C-suite.
  • The innovation. You have the ability to anticipate problems and provide strategic, creative, quick, and reliable solutions to complex problems.

Nice to have:

  • PEng designation
  • MBA or equivalent consulting experience
