Content Writer, Editor, and Creator (Volunteer)

Note: The following is an opportunity for flexible, part-time, volunteer work to address climate change. Please DO NOT APPLY if you are only looking for paid employment. A 6 months commitment is preferred. This is a remote-from-home position.

We are looking for action-oriented individuals who are excited to address climate change. As a startup, we are looking for people who will help build and scale our impact and at the same time are willing to roll up their sleeves to get stuff done! Responsibilities

• Collaborate with team members to understand and develop plans to focus creation efforts in the interest of acting on climate and environmental issues.
• Write new climate/environmental action content to appear on the Earth Hero app, website, and/or social media.
• Of note, in this role, people usually start out writing/researching new actions for the app. Please think about if this is something that is appealing to you. 
• Research and validate content sources to established standards.
• Source photography, and additional digital design resources to complement the writing.
• Coordinate with other creators to ensure a top-quality end product.
• Act as an editor for others to help them develop even more interesting, trusted content.
• Review content to ensure it represents the Earth Hero team values and vision.
• Identify and help bring to life smarter ways for the team to work together and have a more positive impact.

Experiences

• 2+ years of relevant experience in online literature research and fact-based content creation or a related field. 
• 5+ years of relevant experience in fact-based, public writing, and a willingness to use the Oxford comma. :-)
• An understanding of how to distinguish solid sources from opinion. Scientific literature research experience is a bonus.
• Competent working across multiple digital project management platforms.
• Comfortable interpreting scientific studies, technical data, and journals.
• Ability to take initiative, learn new things, and apply them.
• Good communication skills, time management, and attention to detail are key attributes in this role
• Ability to establish trust and confidence by demonstrating a high level of credibility and integrity.

Expectations

You will work remotely and on your own schedule. Roles work best with a minimum commitment of 6 months for 3 - 5 hours a week (or more if you like!). Because our all-volunteer team is spread throughout the world, we rely mostly on a combination of Slack and video calls to communicate.

If you possess a high level of self-motivation, work well independently, have strong collaboration skills, enjoy the opportunity to partner with like-minded individuals, and can commit quality time per week to help achieve team goals, we would love to hear from you.
