Passionate to eat better, Infarm was founded in Berlin in 2013 by Osnat Michaeli and the brothers Erez and Guy Galonska. With the aim to share the goodness of own-grown produce with everyone, they developed a smart modular farming system using IoT technology that allows distribution of farms throughout the urban environment, growing fresh produce in any available space and fulfilling any market demand. 

Today, with cutting edge R&D, patented technologies, and a leading multi-disciplinary team, Infarm is growing a global farming network helping cities become self-sufficient in their food production while significantly improving the safety, quality, and environmental footprint of our food. In Berlin, we have already built the biggest urban farming network in the world, which produces an equivalent of food grown on 350.000 sqm. farmland, with 95% less water, 99% space, and 90% fewer transportation requirements.

Who you are

The People Partner will facilitate the growth of one of the world's most exciting start-ups that’s a true disruptor. As the People Partner for FaaS (Farming as a Service) for Canada you will own the FaaS employee experience and be a strong driver in aligning business objectives with our people, projects, tools and processes. This is a key boots-on-the-ground role with responsibility to coach, develop and partner with leaders to shape and execute talent strategies that support the overall business objectives. You will support Infarmers during their employment cycle and will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies and plans focused on employee management, internal customer satisfaction and business performance. This role will have responsibility throughout Canada and with business growth will evolve to the regional lead for key People processes.

Responsibilities

  • Work with local FaaS Management to execute scaling of the business as well as the ongoing development and growth of existing teams.
  • Partner closely with colleagues in our Talent Attraction, People Operations, Learning & Development and Compensation & Benefits teams to establish needs and facilitate delivery or core people services to the FaaS team.  
  • Consult with business leaders in workforce planning and managing talent pipeline. Participate in all activities related to recruitment including, but not limited to job analysis, interviewing, selection, and on-boarding. Monitor talent attrition to create development opportunities for internal hiring.
  • Be an advisor for employees and managers during all phases of rapid company growth. 
  • Measure processes and programs to make data informed decisions. Proactively create strategies to be aware of and respond to employee concerns. 
  • Be a people champion and change agent by modeling stewardship of the company vision and mission. Champion diversity equity and inclusion in all practices and procedures. Lead employee engagement and be a culture keeper.
  • Coach and develop managers and individual contributors to improve support of employees and enable achievement of organizational goals.
  • Advise managers on organizational policy issues and recommend needed changes. Implement HR initiatives such as compensation, benefits and performance management programs. 
  • Conduct effective, thorough and objective internal investigations in compliance with Infarm policies, procedures and applicable legislation. Resolve complex employee relations issues.
  • Manage the performance review process. Proactively assess team and employee development needs, make recommendations, and implement appropriate solutions. 
  • Analyze data and HR practices and recommend employee relations, employment, compensation and benefits policies to ensure competitive programs and legal compliance. 
  • Be a role model and ambassador for Infarm’s business, mission and values. 
  • Travel to office and growing sites as needed, including occasional travel to the USA.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Five or more years working as a People (HR) Business Partner serving as a strategic partner to business leaders covering multiple Canadian provinces.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering people initiatives in a fast-scaling business or a start-up where you have specifically supported large scale expansion and rapid growth.
  • Demonstrated experience owning and delivering a project or initiative in all of these topics: Employee Experience, Labor Relations, Performance Management, OD, and Leadership.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of human resource legislation, Canadian employment standards, the labor landscape, best practices, resources, tools and processes to build the HR function.
  • English language fluency in written and verbal communications. 
  • Must be agile, ambitious and questioning with an ability to create an outstanding customer experience. An all inclusive partner with clear and demonstrated commitment to D&I and sustainability. Flexible, curious, creative with a growth mindset. An approachable and humble leader who has shown ability to build rapport, trust and open communication up and down the organization. 
  • Bachelor's Degree Human Resources or equivalent in a related field from accredited university preferred
  • CPHR certification preferred
