We are looking for a Facilities Technician to join our Lab Services team. This role provides essential support to our research teams by helping ensure smooth functioning of our facilities.

Essential Functions

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks including: maintenance/repair of R&D labs and equipment, office furniture installation, and other as assigned
  • Work with Property management to arrange building repair/ modifications as needed
  • Fulfill Service Request/Support Tickets and assist in operations as assigned
  • Communicate relevant project updates and other facilities information to Lab members as directed
  • Maintain a safe work environment; work in a safe manner following all safety SOP’s and wear Personal Protective Equipment as required
  • Assist in all facility services including biowaste and hazardous waste removal, recycling initiatives, office furnishings and office equipment.
  • Receive training and provide support to Lab Services, Purchasing, and Shipping/Receiving as needed/assigned
  • Monitor contractor’s performance and work closely with outside vendors to ensure work is completed according to specifications
  • Ensure all labs and lab personnel are supported to meet business needs, including: lab gasses, preventive maintenance, equipment service contracts and safety equipment
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies including USDA, OSHA, CERs, CalEPA, Fire Department, city audits, etc.
  • Receive gasses and check status daily, distribute clean lab coats, refill first aid kits, etc.
  • Assist with maintaining the online chemical inventory, and reporting to CERS
  • Other duties as assigned

Required skills and abilities:

  • High School diploma, 3+ years related experience
  • Experience working in a lab environment preferred
  • Must have a strong work ethic and demonstrate dependability and timeliness
  • Understanding of mechanical and electrical a plus
  • Comfortable working independently as well as with a team, and make sound judgments regarding work methods and tools
  • Ability to work safely in an environment containing hazardous chemicals, high and low temperature liquids, high pressure liquids and gasses, steam, and moving machinery
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push and/or pull 50 lb. of equipment or supplies
  • Must be able to squat, bend, kneel, climb, and or reach
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and/or move about for 75% of a shift
  • Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential in this collaborative work environment
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities
