Job Description

NCX is looking for a Science and Policy Director who will advocate for raising the bar on forest carbon project quality and work with our founders to develop a framework for creating measurable climate impact in forests worldwide and help turn it into a reality!
In this role, you will collaborate with senior leadership to engage with policymakers, NGO's, think tanks, clients, and partner networks. You will analyze the rapidly changing world of carbon markets and write thought leadership pieces to shape the direction of carbon accounting in voluntary and regulatory markets. Your insights will inform NCX's strategy and business decisions to maximize our positive impact on the planet.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with executive team on engagement strategy for and manage relationships with policy and science-related groups
  • Represent NCX in external forums, conferences, webinars, blog posts, and other press channels related to policy and science including industry associations and policy working groups
  • Help develop NCX's policy positions in collaboration with internal stakeholders and draft public comments
  • Participate in calls with sustainability leaders to answer technical questions
  • Monitor and advise on developing trends in science and policy inform company strategy and where NCX should engage
  • Establish partnerships within the shifting landscape to establish NCX as the thought leader in the carbon offset space
  • Lead and manage meetings with all related stakeholders including but not limited to NGO's, policy makers and regulators, think tanks, and prospective corporate customers
  • Keep a continual pulse on the perspectives in the carbon market and craft messaging and strategy to position NCX as a leader in the industry

Skills & Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Technical expert in carbon markets/climate sustainability
  • Experience working with and managing relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Proven track record of developing and executing strategy
  • Passion for NCX's mission and strategy
  • Masters or PhD in Climate Science, Ecology or similar field preferred
