As the first dedicated hire in the compensation function, you will have the opportunity to build foundational programs within a progressive, rapidly scaling startup. Your programs will directly impact all Aurorans and ensure that our frameworks are equitable, competitive, and timely.

What you’ll do:

  • In coordination with the People and Talent teams, define compensation bands for all roles within the company and variable compensation frameworks
  • Ensure that compensation is equitable across Aurorans through periodic audits in collaboration with department stakeholders
  • Manage team-wide compensation review cycles in addition to advising on milestone-based compensation adjustments in partnership with the HRBP team
  • Support our Talent team in ensuring accurate compensation recommendations relative to market and internal compa ratios
  • Partner with the Finance team for budgeting exercises and FP&A activities
  • Manage our Employee Stock Option Programs and implement progressive equity frameworks
  • Define, document, and concretize Aurora’s compensation philosophy and act as a resource to our executive team and people managers on our compensation practices
  • Maintenance and participation in salary survey programs and of established compensation ranges
  • Advise and administer variable compensation programs (commission-based compensation, variable compensation programs, and bespoke programs)
  • Benchmarking competitiveness of benefits programs provided to Aurorans

What we value:

  • Significant comprehension of various compensation methodologies and approaches across departments applicable in SaaS/tech companies
  • Experience with compensation and benefits programs in a distributed context
  • Ability to work with integrity, professionalism, and ethical, consistent frameworks
  • Experience in Canada and/or international compensation and benefits programs
  • Knowledge of equity programs in privately-held / venture-funded companies
  • Certifications are valued, but not required: CCP, CEP, CAC
