Who You Are

As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance and care of our hydroponic farms both at our plant hub and our customer locations across (CITY). You’ll follow clearly defined processes and quality standards to ensure both the physical farm itself and the software are working correctly. 

Practical maintenance experience is required as you’ll be solving a variety of technical problems related to pipes, pumps, valves, radiators, irrigation systems, LED lamp units and fans.  You’ll also need to combine this, with great communication skills and the basic skills to maintain the smooth running of our software, ‘the brains’ of our urban farms. Previous software/coding skills are not required as training will be provided.

Responsibilities 

  • Solve any technical problems that may arise related to pipes, pumps, valves, LED lamps and fans
  • Help identify, report on and solve basic software issues 
  • Assist in the successful and  complete farm installations according to defined procedures and quality standards
  • Service the farms at our customer locations and in our plant hub 
  • As part of our infarm team, you will work closely with our infarm urban farmers and our customers to support the health of our farms
  • Follow a defined workflow and schedule
  • Use our online reporting system to log your work and any issues with the farms to our head office
  • Ensure the safety of yourself and others by following Health and Safety legislation and guidelines
  • Manage the fertigation of the hydroponic systems, handle chemical solutions and make sure they are  properly stored.
  • Ability to travel for work
  • An experienced maintenance technician will act as H&S Representative by detecting / identifying safety & health hazards and plan/organize smart solutions, following standards, regulations or codes that apply to mitigate/control or eliminate such hazards.

Requirements

  • Proven maintenance experience within industrial environment (1 - 4 years)
  • Working knowledge of tools.
  • Manual dexterity and problem-solving skills
  • Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic and control systems
  • Read and understand electrical blueprints, schematic drawings and service manuals
  • Organization/planning abilities
  • Able to Identify and  troubleshoot technical issues in a clear and concise manner
  • Work with minimum supervision in a safe productive orderly manner
  • Function effectively in a fast-paced working environment
  • Be part of on-call scheduling to ensure 24/7 support of Infarm operations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license as you’ll be driving to visit our local farms 
  • Work in heights experience is a plus
  • A certified electrician or Industrial electrician apprentice willing to complete an apprenticeship program to become journeyman electrician, is a strong asset.
