Where in the world of OVO will I be working?

At Kaluza our Design team is growing and we’re looking for a Lead Copywriter to join us and manage a small but growing team of writers. You will set the highest standards for writing across the organisation, and ensure all our product teams have the support they need. This could be product-related – microcopy, contextual help, product launches and technical documentation – or for marketing pitches, people policies, contracts and internal comms.

Kaluza is shaping the future: a distributed, consumer-centric energy system providing clean, affordable energy for everyone. Orion is our flexible software platform which enables energy suppliers to provide a simple, transparent, reliable experience to their customers. Flex is our intelligent technology platform which aims to unlock the benefits of renewable energy and smart devices to help decarbonise the grid.

You’ll help us create better tools and services so we can power the UK’s clean energy Future.

What will I be doing? 

  • Creating strategic writing frameworks, leading writing/copy projects and managing writers.
  • Identifying copywriting needs and opportunities across Kaluza, including pitch decks, people policies, internal comms, brand and marketing.
  • Developing our tone-of-voice in partnership with creative teams. Applying this to improve micro-copy, help content, transactional comms and documentation.
  • Building a high-functioning and self-sufficient copywriting team and practice.
  • Establishing strong relationships with our product squads and teams, raising the visibility of the writing practice.
  • Creating training resources to upskill others so that the overall quality of writing improves and scales.
  • Consistently producing high-quality work to tight deadlines.
  • Brainstorming creative concepts with team members and improving team processes.

Is this the job for me?

Ideally you will have...

  • Experience managing a writing/content design team in a product/engineering environment, particularly in B2B or platform businesses.
  • Knowledge of product and engineering processes.
  • Knowledge of documentation processes.
  • Experience creating content strategies.
  • Impeccable spelling and knowledge of grammar and a natural and original writing style.
  • A calm persona with an ability to think creatively whilst having excellent attention to detail.
