SUMMARY

The Civil Engineer/Land Development professional is responsible for the site development and land use design of solar array and battery storage projects as well as providing technical expertise for all aspects of construction.  Experience in design, permitting, and construction including expertise in stormwater design, best management practices and sedimentation and erosion control measures are all required. Exceptional communication and collaboration skills are essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and manage relationships with a network of engineering consultants for the solar plant life cycle, including origination, design, construction, and maintenance.
  • Manage 3rd party engineering consultants responsible for performing civil engineering, surveying, construction and landscape architecture design products.
  • Provide technical support to Nexamp development, engineering, procurement, construction, and maintenance departments for the entire life cycle of a project.
  • Provide value engineering recommendations through project life-cycle to drive cost reduction while maintaining standards for code compliance and industry best practices
  • Project Development
    • Perform construction administration for project compliance
    • Provide cost estimating support to the Nexamp Estimating team
  • Engineering
    • Review and critique all aspects of the civil engineering design.
    • Analyze Stormwater Management Reports
    • Manage internal civil design project reviews
    • Develop design standards and procedures
    • Support training of engineering department personnel, as well as new product research and implementation
  • Construction
    • Site field visits and inspections
    • Respond to RFIs and urgent field issues
    • Ensure compliance with construction documents
    • Project closeout
  • Travel up to 25%
  • Additional duties as assigned and/or directed

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate must be enthusiastic, self-motivated, hands-on, results-oriented, and a team player. Key qualifications as follows:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
  • EIT required, PE preferred (or ability to obtain same)
  • 4+ years of civil engineering and land development design experience
  • 2+ years of federal, state and local permitting experience
  • 2+ years of construction administration experience
  • Proficiency with state Stormwater Management policies and guidelines
  • Proficient with land development design and construction issues
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Presentation experience at public hearings and stakeholder negotiations
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D, HydroCAD/SWMM software proficiency
  • MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software proficiency
  • Knowledge of OSHA Safety standards; OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 preferred
  • Multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
