SUMMARY

Nexamp’s Utility Scale Division is seeking a Business Development Manager to lead the development of utility scale solar projects in several select markets. The ideal candidate will have three to five years of utility scale solar project development experience. The individual hired to fulfill this role will lead the origination and development of large utility scale projects. This individual understands how clean energy policy creates market opportunity. Open to candidates in a remote location, although working from the Nexamp office in Chicago/Boston/Austin is preferred.    

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform and manage development activities such as: site origination, site control negotiation, real estate and title curative, project permitting, utility interconnection, and tax agreement negotiation
  • Close coordination with junior business development staff to develop and implement effective lead campaign strategies
  • Development of long-term relationships with site owners, local authorities and other project stakeholders
  • Effective communication with project stakeholders and community members to facilitate project permitting and other initiatives
  • Fostering support from state, county and local governments, community groups, and abutters
  • Management of external consultants as needed in conjunction with project permitting activities
  • Crafting a compelling value proposition that reflects avoided cost, load profile, applicable tariffs, and layered revenue streams to promote the projects to potential off-takers in close coordination with the PPA origination team
  • Active management of development schedule and budget to ensure timely and cost-effective projects
  • Support of internal finance, engineering, and construction teams to facilitate successful project financing and construction
  • Development of sales presentations, proposals, and other materials as needed to support project development efforts
  • Occasional travel is required; some evening and weekend work required

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of energy industry experience in a business development role
  • Experience developing utility-scale projects in one or multiple ISOs
  • Integration of PV and energy storage systems preferred
  • Commercial real estate prospecting and business model understanding
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Effective team leader and collaborator
