As a <strong>Metrology and Characterization Engineer </strong>you will invent, develop, improve, validate and scale up inspection tools and methods for our electrolyzer manufacturing processes. You will work within the engineering team responsible for product and process development lifecycles, and accelerate our launch into manufacturing.</p><p>You will be a necessary enabler of product and process quality by working with different groups at the company to develop inspection points across our manufacturing processes. You will dive into the technical details of the product to develop inspection methods and the metrology equipment needed to perform these inspections at scale. Your contributions will ensure we are manufacturing a safe product.</p><p>You will be in Devens, MA and reporting to the Manager of Manufacturing Process Engineering. This is an onsite position with some travel necessary to other sites.</p><p><strong>Primary Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Guide the development of new inline manufacturing metrology from proof-of-concept to high-volume production and to ensure improved processing, performance, quality, and cost.</li><li>Work with R&amp;D and process team members to define inspection points and methods to ensure the reliability of the product and manufacturing process.</li><li>Develop IQC, IPQC, and FQC requirements and set metrics on analyzing performance</li><li>Expect a hands-on approach with pilot process equipment to understand the process fundamentals and use that knowledge to improve metrology</li><li>Promote metrology installation and commissioning on new production lines and work with suppliers</li><li>Define inspection specifications required for allowing gauge capable metrology tools to support production processes.</li><li>Perform gauge capability/R&amp;R, tool matching, and measurement uncertainty studies for metrology tools</li><li>Support metrology measurements for engineering DOEs for process optimization</li><li>Train technicians on the maintenance and repair of the inline metrology systems</li><li>Be able to work on metrology equipment.</li><li>Create advanced statistics, data analysis, interpretation, and presentation of experimental data proficiently</li><li>Investigate and resolve problems arising during inline metrology integration into production process to ensure seamless interaction between process and product.</li><li>Build metrology documentation to define the process for other teams (equipment, quality, production, etc.)</li><li>Work with Corporate Quality, Supplier Quality, and other Quality Organizations to agree on common procedures that need to be consistent across the Company</li></ul><p><strong>Minimum</strong> <strong>Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>A Bachelor's degree in a STEM related field such as Materials Science, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science, Automation Engineering, or other. </li><li>3+ years of relevant metrology experience, including metrology development and fundamentals of the methodology, gauge capability, process capability</li><li>Experience with optics and optical sensor development working with a broad range of wavelengths from infrared to UV</li><li>Experience with engineering fundamentals and ability to apply them towards manufacturing process development</li><li>Familiar with Six sigma concepts such as process and gauge capability concepts and requirements</li><li>Familiar with process failure modes and effects analysis (PFMEA)</li><li>Familiar with at least one statistical software package (e.g JMP, Minitab)</li><li>Familiar with query building for exporting data from databases (e.g. MySQL, Flux), )</li><li>Familiar with at least one programming language for data processing (e.g. Python)</li><li>And ability to simplify complicated concepts for non-technical team members</li></ul><p><strong>Compensation &amp; Benefits</strong></p><p>[Natick Zone] Metrology &amp; Characterization Engineer (P3): $101,000 - $134,000 per year</p><div><div><div>Natick Zone</div><div><span>$101,000</span><span>—</span><span>$134,000 USD</span></div></div></div><div><p>Actual base salary offered to the hired applicant will be determined based on their work location, level, qualifications, job-related skills, as well as relevant education or training and experience.​</p><p>Base salary is just one part of Electric Hydrogen’s total rewards package.
