Community Outreach Coordinator

ISeeChange, headquartered in New Orleans,  is a data and engagement company dedicated to helping cities combat climate change. Our AI-enabled platform cross-references community-reported events with real-time data, enabling sustainable, equitable and efficient infrastructure and public works projects in municipalities across North America. Cities, engineers, utilities, and researchers use our software as a service to site, design, build, and monitor climate solutions that work best for communities.

We are looking for a motivated part-time Community Outreach Coordinator to join the team in support of several projects ongoing in the New Orleans area. In particular, the Community Outreach Coordinator will support the ISeeChange team across several initiatives focused on local climate impacts in New Orleans—including heat and health impacts, floodwater mitigation, and urban tree-planting. This work will be interdisciplinary in nature, involving field survey work, event coordination, communications, and working directly with community members across several New Orleans neighborhoods. The Community Outreach Coordinator will also collaborate with local non-profit, municipal, and engineering partners to further project needs. The position will be contracted monthly up to 25 hours a month paid at $20/hour, and is compatible with a flexible work schedule.

Responsibilities: 

Working with our Project Manager to plan, coordinate, and implement several projects across New Orleans, this will include but is not limited to: 

• Conducting community surveys with residents historically impacted by climate change;
• Furthering communication efforts via social media, network outreach, newsletters, or flyering;
• Onboarding residents to the ISeeChange platform;
• Engaging community members and enhancing project participation through door knocking, event tabling, and other methods; 
• Assisting in event planning and coordination through tasks like printing materials, setting up event spaces, coordinating food and beverage;
• Attending meetings with project partners, note taking,  and coordinating logistics; 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Passion or experience in working on issues related to climate, public health, environmental education,  urban planning and infrastructure, social justice, or epidemiology.
• Experience in direct community engagement work (in New Orleans is preferred), with an emphasis on marginalized or lower-income community groups 
• Built skills in hosting  relational meetings, coalition building, or canvassing
• Experience in conducting surveys with community members
• Excellent communication, listening, and organization skills to work with diverse community partners and teammates 
• Ability to drive across town to attend and coordinate events, and conduct field work
• Ability to walk moderate distances (e.g.  door knocking campaigns) 
• Access to personal computer and smartphone
