Job Description

Tomorrow.io Space division is responsible for the development of unique spaceborne sensing systems and for the overall space mission, from architecture through implementation. The data being collected will be integrated seamlessly into Tomorrow.io existing forecasting and modelling systems and will revolutionize global weather forecasting and insights.

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer who will help us execute complex development programs using the company’s ARENA platform and enable the most capable weather platform in the world.

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer within the Space division at Tomorrow.io, you will play a critical role in the execution of the ARENA platform development as part of a cutting edge, multi-disciplinary team working from hardware to science solutions across multiple remote sensing disciplines.

What you'll do:

  • Using Solid Works Software formulate designs and drawings for space flight hardware
  • Evaluate and facilitate design trade studies
  • Track mass properties with CAD
  • Create and lay out test setups for flight environments (vibro-acoustic, EMI, cryogenic, etc.)
  • Conduct structural and thermal analysts of designs.
  • Apply drawing standard ANSI/ASME Y.14.5M

What you'll need:

  • Typically, 7 years in product design and development including system level design and testing.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineer
  • Advanced knowledge of thermal management
  • Hands-on experience and proficiency in thermal and mechanical evaluation of electronics
  • Self-starting leader with engineering design experience, strong analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in 3D modeling software such as Solidworks, or equivalent.
  • Ability to balance effective use of finite element analysis and other predictive modeling with a hands on/experimental approach to study designs in a lab environment.
  • Demonstrated passion for teamwork and above average verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced computer skills; high proficiency in Microsoft products and ability to grasp new systems quickly.
  • US Citizenship or Permanent Resident
The position will be staffed at our Buzzard Bay, MA office.
