Soil Carbon Modelling Tech Lead

Climate Farmers is a young, driven impact start-up with a strong vision for the European agricultural sector. We're building the infrastructure for scaling regenerative agriculture by developing an open-access knowledge platform, transition finance instruments, and the central European regenerative farming community.

Tasks

• Use various datasets and ground truth to model and validate soil carbon dynamics and microbiological activities.
• Explore new possibilities and partners to fill in the gaps that we are still missing.
• Work with research institutions to develop and validate new aspects of ecosystem health.
• Manage part of our open-source/ volunteer community.
• Further development and refinement of the climate farmers carbon modeling tool.
• Research scientific studies on data science, soil models, and machine learning applications for the agricultural sector.

Requirements

Things we would like to see:

• We work in the Central European Time (CET) zone and meetings will be scheduled accordingly

• Working/study experience in soil science, biology, scientific research, agriculture, or similar. Ideal 5 years +
• Preferred, knowledge in developing statistical models using ecological datasets
• Experienced in working with R and/or Python
• Background in data science and how to process input data
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to research, develop, and implement solutions to novel problems
• Preferred, experience in soil and ecosystem modeling with algorithmic models like RothC, Century, C-Tool or CCB
