Location: Oakland, CA (2-3 days/week in office with the remainder work from home)

Who are we looking for?

Powerhouse is hiring a Vice President of Strategy & Operations to lead all innovation firm activities including business development, partnerships, product, and operations.

What you will be working on:

Strategic Planning and Operations

  • Lead strategic planning, team growth strategy, and develop objectives and key results in collaboration with the CEO

  • Develop and implement strategies to enable the innovation firm to meet its key objectives and identify opportunities for improvement

  • Lead financial planning and management with support from our outsourced CFO

  • Manage people operations, analyze human resources best practices, and ensure compliance with applicable laws with support from the Partnerships & Operations Associate

  • Prepare and present board materials

Team Management

  • Lead innovation firm activities, including hiring and managing team members that lead business development, partnerships, product, and operations

  • Attract, develop, and retain outstanding talent

  • Ensure that key objectives and results are met

Business Development

  • Partner with the Head of Business Development to develop and refine our BD strategy 

  • Engage with potential clients to identify key opportunities for innovation and decarbonization in collaboration with the Head of Business Development

  • Lead competitive analysis and evaluate market to improve product and sales strategy in collaboration with the Head of Business Development and the Director of Partnerships

Client Management

  • Ensure Powerhouse is delivering value in all partnerships

  • Direct the management of client deliverables

  • Leverage industry knowledge to provide guidance to Powerhouse’s clients

About You

Hard Skills

  • 15+ years of relevant industry experience

  • Experience working with corporations or utilities to drive innovation and decarbonization

  • Experience leading a consulting agency or startup 

  • Well-versed in clean energy and mobility innovation 

  • Experience developing key personnel into strong, autonomous leaders and managers

  • Experience leading business development and closing enterprise contracts

  • Experience leading financial planning and management, including budget planning, forecasting, reporting, tax strategy, and contract management

  • Experience building and managing client-facing products or databases

Soft Skills

  • Passion for work that helps to mitigate the impacts of the climate crisis and deploy clean energy and next-generation mobility

  • Empathy for our partners and a drive to help them decarbonize their businesses

  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment with limited support staff and a small but highly effective team

Compensation
