Location: Oakland, CA (2-3 days/week in office with the remainder work from home)

Who are we looking for?

Powerhouse is hiring a Vice President to lead company growth. The Vice President of the Innovation Firm will manage all innovation firm activities including leading business development, and managing team members that lead on partnerships, product, and operations.

What you will be working on:

Business Development

  • Lead business development strategy to engage key stakeholders and identify their innovation and decarbonization needs

  • Use data-driven analysis and interpersonal skills to propose solutions that help clients scale their innovation and decarbonization efforts quickly

  • Engage in early client discussions to qualify opportunities and build relationships

  • Lead competitive analysis and evaluate market to improve product ideas and sales strategy with support from the innovation firm team

  • Manage business development process and materials with support from the Director of Partnerships

Team Management

  • Lead innovation firm activities, including managing team members that lead partnerships, product, and operations

  • Enable and support professional development opportunities for the Powerhouse team

  • Manage tracking of key objectives and results

Strategic Planning and Operations

  • Lead strategic planning, team growth strategy, and develop objectives and key results in collaboration with the CEO

  • Oversee financial planning and management with support from outsourced CFO and the Partnerships & Operations Associate 

  • Manage people operations, analyze human resources best practices, and ensure compliance with applicable laws with support from Partnerships & Operations Associate

  • Develop and implement strategies to assist the innovation firm in meeting its key objectives and identify opportunities for improvement

  • Prepare and present board materials

Client Management

  • Ensure Powerhouse is delivering value in all partnerships

  • Leverage industry knowledge to provide guidance to Powerhouse’s clients

  • Oversee the management of client deliverables

About You

Hard Skills

  • 15+ years of relevant industry experience including experience leading enterprise business development 

  • Experience working with corporations or utilities to drive innovation and decarbonization

  • Experience working in consulting or at a startup 

  • Well-versed in clean energy and mobility innovation 

  • Experience with financial planning and management, including budget planning, forecasting, reporting, tax strategy, and contract management

  • Experience building and managing client-facing products or databases

  • Experience developing key personnel into strong, autonomous, leaders and managers

Soft Skills

  • Passion for work that helps to mitigate the impacts of the climate crisis and deploy clean energy and next-generation mobility

  • Empathy for our partners and a drive to help them decarbonize their businesses

  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment with limited support staff and a small but highly effective team
