Scientists agree that scalable technology for efficient and low-cost removal and durable sequestration of CO2 is critical to mitigate the worst effects of climate change. Carbon dioxide removal (CDR) is a suite of approaches and novel technologies to accomplish this.</p>
<h4 class="font_4">Job description</h4>
<p class="font_8">We are hiring an electrical engineer who will report directly to the CEO. You will be responsible for low-voltage systems and developing controls and automation for direct air capture systems and associated test systems. Control engineers develop and integrate physical hardware including data acquisition systems, various sensors, PLCs, wire harnesses, and PCBs. You should be familiar with sensors, data acquisition (DAQ) systems, actuators, PLCs, and more.</p>
<p class="font_8">You will oversee all aspects of your projects, including initial requirements gathering, feasibility studies, full system design, purchasing and procurement, finances, scheduling, manufacturing, contractor management, installation, and activation.</p>
<p class="font_8">Clairity is an early-stage company and all team members will have the opportunity to shape the direction and decisions of the company. You will be able to build from dirt patch up to a completed system and will have an outsized impact on the company&rsquo;s success. <p class="font_8">High-efficiency, low-cost heat transfer systems for targeted heating and cooling of specialized materials.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p class="font_8">Parameterized experimental design and test system design for advanced chemical sorbent characterization and materials development.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p class="font_8">Design of a high-reliability, low-pressure, variable-purity gas capture system that works under a wide range of operating conditions.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p class="font_8">Experimental design for quantification of CO2 mineralization and sequestration under elevated pressures and temperatures.</p>
</li>
</ul>
<h6 class="font_6">Responsibilities:</h6>
<ul class="font_8">
<li>
<p class="font_8">Design and develop electrical systems for direct air capture and associated test systems.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p class="font_8">Design and spec electrical and control hardware, such as sensors, data acquisition (DAQ) systems, control systems, actuators, PLCs, PCBs, and more.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p class="font_8">Design and implement data acquisition (DAQ) and control systems.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p class="font_8">Provide technical support to mechanical and scientific staff for execution of tests.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p class="font_8">Analyze test data to understand performance of electrical systems and optimize performance.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p class="font_8">Assist in development of testing protocols based on electrical component specifications.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p class="font_8">Interface with vendors and external parties as necessary for project completion.</p>
</li>

<h4 class="font_4">Requirements</h4>
<h6 class="font_6">Basic qualifications:</h6>
<ul class="font_8">

<p class="font_8">Must have strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p class="font_8">Ability to work in dynamic environments to execute real-time tasks in tight operation windows.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p class="font_8">Degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or related technical discipline.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p class="font_8">1+ years of experience with system level design, integration, or testing of electro-mechanical systems and/or components (academic projects, internships, and traditional professional experience all qualify).</p>

<h6 class="font_6">Preferred and experience:</h6>

<p class="font_8">Experience working on technically complex systems with experience from comparable industries like aerospace, automotive, or chemical engineering.</p>

<p class="font_8">Comfortable working on a small team and taking ownership of all phases of a project lifecycle.</p>

We expect this position to be a regular, full-time position, with an annual salary of $105,000-$135,000. We are open to some variance in experience, which may affect the resulting level and annual salary.</p>

<p class="font_8">We focus on generating low purity CO2 streams to simplify design, reduce cost, and improve scalability.&nbsp;<span style="font-weight: 400;">As you increase the purity of CO2, the amount of energy required to further purify it goes up. It takes more energy to go from 90 to 100%, than from 0 to 10%. By limiting the final purity of our product, we end up with a process that is much more energy efficient per molecule of CO2 removed. The secondary impacts of this on our designs are huge, and we can use the same materials that you would use to build a house, unlike competitors' processes that need highly specialized, and expensive, equipment.</span></p>
