Where in the world of OVO will I be working? 

You’ll also be joining our OVO-wide community of 60+ researchers and designers. We help teams see through the eyes of real people – understanding their context, motivations, and needs.  We use a variety of tools and methods to make the greatest impact. 

What will I be doing?

We're looking for a Lead Experience Designer to join our Consumer Experience Design team leading a team of designers responsible for creating experiences that surprise and delight our members across multiple energy and decarbonisation products.

You’ll lead design for multiple teams, working across customer journeys end to end. This involves making strategic decisions on key initiatives alongside other Leads.

You will be:

  1. Collaborating with Product and Engineering leaders on our growth strategies
  2. Working closely with our Practice Leads to set the direction for our teams
  3. Ensuring Experience Designers create effective user journeys, service maps, wireframes, prototypes and other reference material
  4. Identifying research opportunities and communicating research findings effectively
  5. Promoting and adding to our design system, accessibility standards and patterns
  6. Developing detailed technical knowledge of our app, software, tools and systems, and help increasing the technical know-how of our designers
  7. Helping grow the Experience Design team and increase its influence across the business
  8. Defining and measuring performance metrics
  9. Managing and mentoring other Experience Designers
  10. Embed our design methodologies and frameworks
  11. Extending our toolbox of methods to enable our teams to meet business objectives and solving customer needs
  12. Helping to create a happy, safe working culture which nurtures and retains our talent

Is this the job for me? 

Our ideal candidate will have some of these skills, qualities and experiences:

  1. Extensive experience building for web & app
  2. Experience with design systems
  3. Experience managing designers across multiple teams
  4. Experience in embedding design principles and the increasing visibility of design in organisations
  5. Skilled in building strong relationships with leaders across an organisation 
  6. Communicating strategies in ways that resonate and influence senior stakeholders  
  7. Experience working in agile, lean and human-centred design methods
  8. Able to simplify complex ideas and communicate them effectively to internal and external audiences
  9. Be highly organised, analytical and make decisions based on evidence
  10. Thrive in a fast-paced environment
