Job Description

Kevala is looking for a UI Designer to join our growing team. This individual will bring their design skills to a company with goals to make important, positive changes in support of renewable energy. Design at Kevala works collaboratively with all teams to facilitate ideation and provide user research, UX strategy, and UX/UI design to deliver design solutions appropriate to goals, always with a focus on the user. Design makes use of systems and patterns to deliver efficiently and consistently for both the Solutions Platform and a multi-SaaS product offer

What you will be doing

    • Create UI/UX for our SaaS software products and customer solutions platform
    • Create storyboards and prototypes to conceptualize designs and convey project plans to end users, customers, and stakeholders
    • Provide detailed specs of interactions, layouts, components, and styles to developers
    • Provide solutions based on user needs, customer feedback, business goals within technology constraints
    • Use testing and other data to validate and inform iteration in your work 
    • Create visual styles for data visualizations including map/GIS data
    • Inform your work with knowledge of the competitive landscape and best practices
    • Bring knowledge of and recommendations on UI technologies and techniques to the team 
    • Translate your design skills to other contexts in support of team responsibilities when needed such as web design, marketing materials, and branding

What you need to succeed

    • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in creating and implementing UI design for responsive web tools and services 
    • Proficient with visual design programs such as Sketch, Adobe CS Suite, and at least one interactive prototyping tool
    • Experience creating storyboards and interactive prototypes to support ideation, testing, and decision making
    • Advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to optimize solutions within constraints
    • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple milestones and projects efficiently
    • Ongoing continued education around, and research into UI trends, current design techniques, and technology
    • Appropriate knowledge of front-end coding technology and an ability to, or collaborate with software developers to, translate your designs to HTML, CSS, and other languages

What will make you stand out

    • Experience or strong interest in data visualization and/or UIs for data analytics.
    • Experience in creating modular UIs and design systems
    • Interest or experience in the energy industry
    • Experience designing for SaaS products
    • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment 
    • Professional written and interpersonal skills

Location

We are headquartered in San Francisco, but we embrace the virtual office and are continuing to grow our team across the United States. 

Salary Range

$90,000-$155,000 (depending on location and experience)
