We are currently seeking a Controller to join our Business Division and lead the accounting team to help us realize our mission of building leaders who drive sustainability solutions. SEI is a 25 year old nonprofit organization, whose business has unusually complex accounting and reporting needs as a 501c3 with diverse funding streams, and multiple types of fee-for-service engagements.&nbsp; The ideal candidate will be excited to mature the department&rsquo;s systems, processes and procedures as we scale. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, and comfortable working in fast-paced complex environments. Work is conducted on a hybrid schedule,&nbsp; in your home office or an offsite location 3 days per week and our San Rafael office 2 days per week.

CONTROLLER RESPONSIBILITIES
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Lead and manage a small accounting staff, creating a productive trusting environment and supporting the professional growth of the team members.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Oversee all aspects of the accounting function including the month-end close, preparation of monthly financial reporting, AP / AR management, compliance, budgeting, payroll accounting etc.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Accountable for regulatory compliance, including the timely and accurate completion of both our annual general audit, and funder-specific audits&nbsp;</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Collaborate with geographically dispersed leaders across the organization on program/project budgets and reporting needs, and effective resource planning</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Own the ongoing development of accounting policies, processes, and controls</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Ensure the financial systems and tools in use are effective, efficient and compliant</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Responsible for timely renewals of business registrations and filings</li>

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">BA Degree in accounting or equivalent&nbsp;</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">10+ years of accounting and finance experience in organizations with $5M+ in revenue</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Experience leading accounting function in nonprofits required. Experience in services, and/or consulting sectors preferred.&nbsp;</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Strong verbal and written communication, analytical thinking, and organizational skills.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Experience with and interest in various technologies as well as competency across the Google and Microsoft suites of software. Aptitude and willingness to quickly learn industry or project-specific software.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Ability to work under direct supervision, collaboratively in teams/partners, or independently.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to empathize with others.&nbsp;</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Experience and aptitude for rapport building &amp; working collaboratively with colleagues, partners, &amp; clients.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Genuine commitment to anti-racism and willingness to work in racial equity frameworks and experience in addressing racism and racial equity with team members and programmatically.</li>
