About Cervest

Cervest is building the world’s first open access AI-powered Climate Intelligence platform.

We’re a certified B-Corp with a vision to democratize access to Climate Intelligence driving a shared responsibility to protect the world’s critical assets — including our greatest shared asset, the planet.

We’re backed by leading investors, including Draper Esprit, Future Positive Capital, Lowercarbon Capital, Astanor Ventures, and Marc Benioff. We are now building up our team in all areas: sales, marketing, science, engineering, and people operations.

As a company, we are a pro-diversity, highly inclusive organization, committed to bringing together people of all backgrounds and enabling them to succeed. We know that a richly diverse team will help us achieve our mission sooner.

The Role: VP of Strategic Customers

2021 is the year we commercialize our Climate Intelligence platform in key markets and geographies. Many of our first strategic customers are in real estate, manufacturing, utilities and local and central government, and need senior-level guidance on climate impact and reporting on their overall business risk, liability, and resiliency; they need someone who understands their pressures and its sources, someone who can help them personally understand the value of our climate intelligence, and ultimately win them as a customer making strategically use our platform.

Your key responsibilities:

As a trusted commercial leader with a revenue / win target, you will:

  • identify, penetrate and own c-level engagements with our most strategic target customers whose board agenda, driven by regulatory and corporate fiduciary requirements, necessitates senior-level commercial, regulatory and climate expertise from Cervest.
  • work with Cervest’s BD, technical, commercial and product pre-sales engagement, to convert your initial c-level engagement into high value, high penetration disclosure, ratings and (in due course) Carbon wins.
  • identify and develop commercial partnerships with leading technology and business advisories with whom and through whom we can scale strategic customer engagements, making sure they also understand Cervest’s value to their own services model
  • ensure the customers' c-suites understand the long term, strategic value of our open Climate Intelligence Network, and manoeuvre them into being key Cervest sponsors and advocates across their entire network
  • manage and report prospect and client status on all your deals to all internal stakeholders

What you'll be doing – secondary responsibilities:

  • Connect strategic clients and our Earthlab R&D team to establish potential areas of co-building.
  • Work with Cervest's Policy and Advocacy team who are influencing key public organizations and regulators
  • Be a critical voice in refining our go-to-market and product roadmap.
  • Be a trusted spokesperson on Cervest
  • Bring team leadership and talent coaching expertise
  • Help develop commercial use case propositions for disclosure, carbon, supply chain, and strategic growth.

Requirements

The person we seek:

To work at Cervest, you’ll be a very special sort of enterprise sales leader. With the following expertise:

  • A highly regarded commercial leader with 8-10 years experience selling SaaS platform / products at C-level, into a regulated market.
  • A minimum 3-5 years’ experience in climate/ESG-related role
  • You will have owned a business/territory which brings in multi-million dollar subscription/licensing deals
  • You’ll be well-versed in disclosure, risk/risk management, regulated markets, and possess a good understanding of climate risk.
  • You get scale: having sold a platform / data analytics you ultimately want to pump-prime a highly scalable sales and CX engine
  • You’ll possess an acute understanding of what it takes to work in a startup and the ability to thrive in an environment of pace, ambiguity and entrepreneurship
  • You’ll be able to draw upon senior-level testimonials citing your relationship management abilities, credibility and integrity
  • You’ll have successfully created paid-for trials and converted into enterprise contracts
  • You’ll always be thinking ‘big picture’: helping establish a brand new market category by bringing the innovative approaches required to sell both an offering and a vision

Application:

Please send us your CV and a 1-page (max) cover letter telling us about you and why you want to join Cervest.

The interview process for this role will be approximately 4-5 hours in total (which we accommodate as much as possible around your obligations), comprising interviews with 3-4 Cervest representatives across the organisation, and an assessment on a relevant topic which is agreed in advance.

Benefits

Benefits and salary:

  • Competitive Salary £100-115k excluding bonuses
  • Stock Options
  • 30 days vacation
  • £1000 each year to expand your development
  • Paid sick leave for physical and mental health with access to Spill
  • Fuller list of benefits on our main career page – we are committed to developing our team members in line with their aspirations and talents as well as continuing to develop our culture in line with our values.
