The Opportunity: 

We are seeking a Sr UX Designer, comfortable with leading the UX design process for our E-commerce site and how it connects to our mobile apps. This role reports to the Director, Experience Strategy & Design and works collaboratively with our Sr Product Manager, Ecommerce. In this role you will define, plan, and lead the user experience approach from start to finish, inclusive of requirements gathering sessions, workshops, brainstorming, direction of UI designers and negotiations with developers.

 

The Responsibilities: 

  • Support across a range of experiences as needed and apply systems thinking to ensure consistency and cohesiveness between all: Mobile app, Ecommerce, and physical product
  • Work with product managers to turn business ideas and goals into comprehensive, well thought out project plans 
  • Deliver UX artifacts to UI Designers that meet user needs and goals
  • Work with UX Researcher to develop a thorough understanding of our customers, their needs and pain points across the entire customer journey and design research artifacts to aid in decision making for the whole team
  • Direct UX Researchers, UI Designers, and UX Writers to fulfill the UX vision and strategy, inclusive of managing external UI resources
  • Identify opportunities for testing of features with UX Researcher and participate in assessing research insights
  • Review features implemented by engineering and conduct design negotiations to ensure optimal balance of technology and user experience 
  • Encourage a more empathetic organization alongside UX Researcher by discussing research findings and their application to our experiences with audiences across the organization to socialize a common understanding of our customers through written and oral presentations
  • Champion the user throughout the UX process by participating in, owning the design of, and delivering UX artifacts (including but not limited to: customer journeys, user story mapping, jobs to be done, system maps, user stories, wireframes) required to make insight-driven design decisions
  • Consult on and advocate for our customers in business and design decisions 
  • Communication and collaboration are key in this role. You can communicate effectively with people inside and outside the technology team to ensure a shared understanding of our customers.

Qualifications:

  • Empathy, humility, and cross-team collaborative spirit
  • Logical and detail-oriented
  • 5+ years of strategic UX work experience (UI not included)
  • Ability to manage other UX specialities and external resources
  • Ability to take in multiple sources of information and perspectives, extract requirements, and synthesize them into action plans
  • Ability to scope problems and work with a team to see them through to implementation 
  • Ability to contribute to planning and prioritization activities
  • Ability to identify and conduct the right UX activities to solve a problem
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong verbal communication and presentation skills—you’re exceptional at articulating design decisions and underlying behavioral rationale
  • Excellent and authoritative (while humble) people management skills to influence business decisions
  • Comfortable contributing to both digital and physical product experiences
  • Comfortable working in spreadsheets and slide decks
  • Expert knowledge of Figma and other modern design tools
  • An online portfolio that demonstrates your ability to uncover stakeholder requirements and turn ambiguous business ideas into actionable plans that deliver exceptional and simple user-centered experiences. We are excited to see what you can do and have done in the past.

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Experience working on E-commerce websites
  • Experience with subscription or pay over time products
