About This Role

Apeel Sciences is seeking an experienced Senior Equipment Buyer to support strategic sourcing activities with Apeel’s Engineering Project Manager(s) to successfully source, develop, deliver and manage appropriate equipment, materials, and services for Apeel’s global integrations. In this role you will support the design of the global supply chain strategy to support the relevant engineering teams on supply chain management best practices and drive project execution. You will develop strategic relationships with equipment suppliers while maintaining the highest level of professional and ethical conduct.

This role reports to our Senior Director, Purchasing, and we are looking for you to join us immediately. 

What You’ll Do

  • Responsible for strategic sourcing of capital critical  equipment and the performance management of suppliers
  • Lead the sourcing process by develop proposals, generate competitive bids, obtain necessary purchasing approvals, and negotiate contract terms
  • Finalize purchasing agreements statements of work and expedite order(s) if needed to ensure contract terms are met
  • Continue to purchase assigned goods and services per contract while working to improve quality, delivery, and price
  • Generate the most suitable purchasing arrangement such as contracts, blanket orders and vendor stocking arrangements to streamline and obtain optimum pricing and delivery
  • Design and manage procurement standard operating procedures (SOP’s) to drive business continuous improvement
  • Maintain the integrity of the ERP purchasing system database, investigate purchase order or inventory discrepancies, resolve delivery/receiving and payment issues in a timely manner
  • Maintain direct contact with suppliers to ensure the quantity and quantity of products, parts, and services
  • Issue Supplier Corrective Action Required (SCAR) letters if material is compromised
  • Routinely provide qualitative and quantitative supplier feedback in addition to scorecard to ensure supplier performance against KPIs on top tiered suppliers
  • Analyze incoming requisitions and shortage reports for quality, specification, pricing and delivery requirements and drive timely execution to support service level agreements (SLA’s)
  • Manage inventories per forecasts and support company financial goals
  • Establish cost reduction targets by commodity or strategic category
  • Present procurement data to cross functional teams or management in presentations and technical reports.
  • Support and consult on cross-function department teams to deliver on project objectives

What You Bring

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 -3  yrs exp working in a high-volume environment 
  • Thorough knowledge of procurement, vendor relations, material planning and inventory management
  • Familiar with GMP’s (Good Manufacturing Processes), product specifications and incoming inspection procedures
  • Ability to read technical drawings
  • Experience with onboarding suppliers and relationship development
  • Experience with ERP systems (Oracle preferred)
  • Experience developing, negotiating, and managing contracts with suppliers
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 20% of work time

Preferred Qualifications

  • Effective verbal and written communication, analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Must have the ability to prepare and deliver effective presentations
  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented
  • CPIM, CPM, CSCP certification desirable
  • Ability to interface well with cross-functional teammates
  • Bilingual with fluency in Spanish is desirable
