SSE has built a sizable Retail business building a reputation for offering great value services with exceptional customer service. The ambition over the coming years is to accelerate that growth even further to become one of the major retailers in the UK.

You will have responsibility to ensure the successful delivery of the Retail Telecoms Assurance plan to achieve our customer, commercial, operational and strategic goals.

 

What will I be doing?

You will ensure there is clear ownership of KPIs and tasks, breaking down barriers, removing overlaps and driving us to an efficient, assured and compliant working model across Commercial. As part of a small team you will be happy to roll your sleeves up where appropriate.

You will be an expert in Agile Programme Management and will play a leading role in driving the transformation of the Commercial Assurance virtual team that spans all functional disciplines.

Key responsibilities include:

Integration

  • Working with a complex set of stakeholders from across the organisation, you will be required to use your skills and experience to shape and craft solutions that will always be challenging and require compromise
  • Implements Agile method and process into how we work, ensuring we continually prioritise our efforts against our goals
  • Responsibility for bringing original thought and new perspectives around what applications/tools, KPI and MI reporting would best suit and support the needs of Commercial Assurance.
  • Specifically prepares monthly and quarterly business performance review packs coordinating and liaising with heads of department from all business functions within the virtual team  
  • Deputises forHead of Commercial Assurance in any cross business unit activities

 

Planning

  • Key member of the Assurance team defining and implementing the Commercial assurance plan 
  • Liaises with Directors,Head of and other key stakeholders to ensure all in year business unit activities are in line with long term strategic goals
  • Regularly updates Retail Telecoms plan with Regulatory activity and ensures plan is implemented on schedule and to quality with key heads of department

 

Assurance

  • Be an independent conscience within Commercial, ensuring everything we do treats customers fairly
  • Responsible for ensuring our processes are compliant with internal and external mandates e.g. Billing, Data Protection, Ofcom General Conditions and OFGEM licence conditions
  • Ensures internal and external suppliers are clear on our assurance requirements
  • Provide clear, achievable and prioritised actions in order to address any assurance shortfalls
  • Manages ongoing Risk Framework managing the risk landscape across Commercial.
  • Represent SSEOVO at external industry meetings, driving forward industry improvements

 

Projects

  • Takes accountability for the scoping, development and delivery on behalf of the Retail Telecoms business unit of all programmes and projects
  • Manages as appropriate the implementation of regulatory and strategic projects, supported by project administrator

  • Bring people together around one plan holding everyone to account, including the Head of Commercial Assurance
  • Ensure clear definition of a people RACI across the different teams, making changes where needed

Is this the job for me? 

Experience

  • Experience of delivering complex, large-scale programmes, managing multiple teams and reporting to senior stakeholders. 
  • A background of working within fast-paced, consumer focused organisations such as Retail, FCA, Telco or Technology
  • Expert at bringing matrix teams together and driving delivery of cross-functional initiatives
  • A solid understanding of Fixed line Telecoms especially technologies, operating models, processes, tools and key customer journeys would be preferable
  • Previous experience in a regulatory and compliance role prefered
  • Risk Management experience preferred
  • First Line of defence Assurance experience would be beneficial 

 

Ideally you will have:

Essential Functional / Technical Skills

  • Master at Agile Programme Management, driving iterative transformation through a cross-functional team
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills suitable for interpreting, summarising and challenging key performance data 
  • The gravitas and intellectual rigour to interface with external stakeholders
  • Deep knowledge of working across the service delivery chain, including internal functions and strategic partners
  • Sound knowledge and appreciation of using insight and continual improvement techniques to improve the customer experience and operational efficiency
  • Impressive written and verbal communication skills, comprehensive and succinct report writing, ability to create communications suitable for CEO and FD level audience
  • Ability to think clearly at strategic level and provide thought partnership for Head Of Commercial Assurance in addition to detailed analytics where necessary 
  • Comfortably uses both data and insight in decision making
  • Advanced level PowerPoint, Excel and Word skills
