We’re using fermentation (not animals) to make dairy proteins that are the foundation for foods like ice cream, cheese and yogurt – all with the distinctive taste and textures that consumers demand, but without lactose or environmental downsides. Through partnerships with respected brands, we’re working to launch a whole range of dairy products that will help shape a humane, sustainable food system for future generations. As the newest member of the Corporate Communications team, you will help contribute to help us build awareness and excitement for our growing portfolio of consumer brands under The Urgent Company. Our ideal candidate is a seasoned PR professional with a proven track record of driving positive, impactful media coverage for consumer brands and products. Has experience managing or working for an agency, can activate a multi-layered campaign, and is a natural collaborator with cross-functional partners and teams. The position will live within the Perfect Day Global Brand Corporate Communications Team and report to the Vice President of Brand Communications.

YOUR CONTRIBUTION:

  • Develops and leads effective PR strategies and activations that will make a material impact on brand perception and product desirability, including: *Ongoing, seasonal product news engine, *Communications strategies for integrated marketing campaigns, product launches and collaborations, *Real-time and quick-strike opportunity identification, with planned strategy and activation, *Experience connecting brands with the cultural zeitgeist through storytelling, media moments, events, and awards, *In-market activations and product showcasing events for consumers and media, *Influencer collaborations and integrations that create brand WOM and validation.
  • Manages PR agency partners (as applicable), including driving status calls and project tracking, assisting with budget oversight, managing priorities, effectively communicating status and plans to internal stakeholders.
  • Provides strategic council, sets goals, and identifies benchmarks and KPIs with integrated marketing and cross-functional teams for media opportunities, launch activations, and consumer media relations and events.
  • Identifies opportunities for strategic brand partnerships, editor/influencer gifting/seeding, product launch activations, etc.
  • Grows and nurtures long-term media relationships, constantly building new contacts and maintaining a master media list.
  • Translates complex science into resonant messaging, with a keen understanding of how to communicate effectively across diverse audiences.
  • Handles media inquiries from beginning to end, shaping messages, and preparing spokespersons to ensure positive outcomes.
  • Writes strategy documents, press releases, pitches, key messages, media training materials, backgrounders, Q&As, etc.
  • Conducts regular media analysis to keep your finger on the pulse of reporters covering the company and important industry topics.
  • Owns a conference calendar and craft compelling speaker submissions.
  • Provides continuous measurement and analysis of PR effectiveness to guide delivery of actionable optimization recommendations to improve performance and drive growth.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher and 5+ years of professional experience, in-house or at an agency (food and beverage experience is a plus!)
  • Has strong roster of media relationships and experience owning media strategies (e.g., product launches, data stories, thought leadership).
  • Impeccable project management skills, with keen attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through without losing sight of the big picture.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to convey a brand’s story through data, words, and images in a way that connects emotionally and psychologically with the target audience.
  • A quick learner who is eager to quickly get up to speed on technical details and scientific processes to be able to explain as well as (or even better than) our R&D team and can put the value into clear language for external audiences.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced culture—is self-driven and can develop strategy, then execute on it tactically.
  • Is passionate about creating a more sustainable future through delicious food innovation!
