Mechanical Engineer — Body Structures

Roles & Responsibilities

• Design a body support structure and body panels for a unique, electric RV

• Take a body design concept from renders, to a detailed design, to reality

• Collaborate with aerodynamics engineering to ensure detailed design remains low-drag

• Experiment with various material layup and joining techniques, optimizing across a range of criteria to deliver an engineered result

• Develop and run FEA simulations to confirm structural integrity under various load cases

• Fabricate prototype parts (machining, 3-D printing, welding) in-house

• Perform tolerance stack-up / GD&T analyses where necessary

• Select and work closely with suppliers to manage part quality and delivery timing

• Develop and perform component and system level testing

• Aid technicians in the assembly of your subsystems

Prior Experience & Professional Qualities

• BSME engineering or similar

• Design experience with composite materials preferred

• Experience with production-level vehicle design (automotive, aerospace, watercraft, etc.) preferred

• 5+ years of mechanical design engineering (multidisciplinary skills preferred)

• Skilled modeler using 3-D CAD tools such as CATIA, Solidworks, Fusion 360, Onshap
